The Washington Redskins and the New York Giants meet in week 8 NFL action from MetLife Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The Washington Redskins come into this game looking to build on back-to-back wins, including a 20-17 triumph over Dallas in their last outing. Alex Smith has thrown for 1,383 yards, 7 touchdowns and 2 interceptions on 63.3% passing while Adrian Peterson leads the ‘Skins in rushing with 438 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns this season. Jordan Reed leads Washington with 268 receiving yards while Chris Thompson has 26 catches for 200 yards this year. Defensively, three Redskins are tied for the team lead with 3 sacks while D.J. Swearinger Sr. has a pair of interceptions and Mason Foster and Zach Brown each have a Washington-high 28 tackles this season. As a team, Washington is averaging 337.5 yards of total offense and 21 points per game while also getting it done defensively, sitting top-10 in total yardage against (325.7 YPG/5th in NFL), rushing yards against (87.3 YPG/3rd) and scoring defense (20.2 PPG/7th) this season.

Washington is 2-6 ATS in their last 8 division games and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games while the under is 8-2 in their last 10 games overall. New York is 3-8 ATS in their last 11 home games and 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games against the NFC while the under is 10-4 in their last 14 games overall. Washington is 3-7 ATS in the last 10 meetings between these two teams and 1-4 ATS in the last 5 meetings between these two teams in New York.

Washington hasn’t had a ton of success against the Giants, but I feel that it’s safe for me to say that that could change here. The Giants are a mess right now, going through turmoil within the team and while the Redskins aren’t a world-beater, they’re still at the top of the division after grinding out a couple of hard-fought wins in their last two outings. With this line being a pick ‘em, if you side with New York, you’re basically saying the Giants are the better here and I don’t see it as Big Blue has gone 0-3 both SU and ATS at home this season and it doesn’t help that the Giants have traded away two key defensive pieces in Eli Apple and Damon Harrison earlier this week. I’ll lay the point with Washington in this spot in a game the Redskins should win by at least a touchdown.
