The New York Jets and the Miami Dolphins meet in a week 9 AFC East division matchup from Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The New York Jets will look to bounce back from back-to-back losses after a 24-10 loss to Chicago in their last outing. Sam Darnold has thrown for 11 touchdowns and 10 interceptions to go along with 1,705 passing yards, while Isaiah Crowell leads the Jets on the ground with 484 rushing yards and 5 touchdowns. Robby Anderson leads the Jets’ receiving corps with 314 yards and 3 touchdowns while Quincy Enunwa has a team-high 22 catches for 287 yards this season. Defensively, Brandon Copeland and Leonard Williams each have 3 sacks while Darron Lee has 3 interceptions and Jamal Adams leads the Jets with 42 tackles this season. As a team, New York is averaging 314.1 yards of total offense and 24 points per game this season.
The Miami Dolphins are in dire need of a win after losing 4 of their last 5 games, including a 42-23 loss to Houston in their last outing. Brock Osweiler has thrown for 895 yards, 6 touchdowns and 3 interceptions on 64.1% passing while Frank Gore and Kenyan Drake have combined to rush for 725 yards and 3 touchdowns this season. Albert Wilson leads the Dolphins with 391 receiving yards and 4 touchdowns while Danny Amendola has a team-high 35 catches this season. Defensively, three Miami players are tied for the team lead with 2 sacks each while Kiko Alonso has a team-high 51 tackles this season. As a team, Miami is averaging 334.2 yards of total offense and 21.8 points per game this season.
New York is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games overall while the under is 7-2 in their last 9 division games. Miami is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 2-6-1 ATS in their last 9 division games while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 home games. New York is 16-5-1 ATS in the last 22 meetings between these two teams in Miami.
The Jets have had a ton of success ATS in Miami, but I’m not completely sold on the Jets, as Darnold looks to be a bit more shaky in the pocket than I would like. On the other hand, Miami is struggling right now so this game could go either way. Instead, I’m going to side with the over. This total seems pretty low for a pair of teams that can’t keep points off of the board. The Jets have allowed 24 or more points in 4 of their last 5 games, while the Dolphins have allowed 27 points in each of their last 5 games. I think this is a game where we see each team in the high 20s, so I’ll side with the over in this spot.
