The Denver Broncos and the Los Angeles Chargers will be meeting up in NFL activity on Sunday from StubHub Center.
Denver comes into this one at 3-6 on the year. The Broncos started out with a pair of wins over the Seahawks and Raiders, but then went into a tailspin, losing six of their next seven games, ending with a 19-17 loss to the Texans in their last outing.
In the Houston game, Denver QB Case Keenum managed 290 yards and a TD, and Phillip Lindsay had 60 yards on the ground. Jeff Heuerman was the leading Denver receiver with 83 yards and a score on 10 receptions.
Over on the Chargers’ side, they’re 7-2 this season. LA went just 1-2 to start things out, but then won six of their next seven games, most recently taking out the lowly Raiders 20-6.
In the Raiders game, Chargers QB Philip Rivers managed 223 yards, two TDs and a pick, while Melvin Gordon was the lead rusher on 93 yards. Gordon also led the receiving corps for LA with 72 yards and a TD on five grabs.
The Broncos are 7-18-1 ATS in their last 26 versus the AFC and 2-6 ATS versus a team with a winning record. Denver is 5-15-1 ATS in their last 21 overall and 1-4 ATS in their last five in Week 11.
Meanwhile, the Chargers are 6-0 ATS in their last six in November and 5-1 ATS versus a team with a losing record. LA is 4-1 ATS in the last five overall and 4-1 ATS in their last five versus the AFC.
The Broncos’ recent struggles look pretty bad on paper, but the reality is that they’re staying in games. Four of the last five Denver losses have come by one score or less.
As for LA, they’re quietly tearing it up right now, and their offense appears to be clicking pretty well. I’m going to go with the Chargers here.
