The Tennessee Titans take on the Houston Texans on “Monday Night Football” closing out week 12 NFL action at NRG Stadium.
Tennessee enters this one at 5-5 on the season. The Titans started things off pretty well at 3-1, but then lost some steam. On the positive side, Tennessee has won two of their last three, with the loss coming in their last game versus Indianapolis.
In the Colts game, Titans QB Marcus Mariota left with an injury after tossing for 85 yards and a pick. Derrick Henry led Tennessee’s rush on 46 yards, and Jonnu Smith was the lead receiver with 44 yards from six catches.
Over on the Texans’ side, they’re 7-3 this season so far. Houston started out with three losses, but since have won seven in a row over the Colts, Cowboys, Bills, Jags, Dolphins, Broncos and Redskins.
In the Redskins game, Houston QB Deshaun Watson put up 208 yards, one TD and two picks, and Lamar Miller was the lead rusher on 86 yards. Keke Coutee led Houston’s receivers with 77 yards from five grabs.
The Titans are 7-0 ATS in the last seven Monday games and 6-1 ATS in their last seven versus the AFC South. Tennessee is 4-1 ATS versus a team with a winning record and 19-43-4 ATS in their last 66 versus the AFC.
Meanwhile, the Texans are 4-1 ATS in their last five versus the AFC and 3-8 ATS in their last 11 versus the AFC South. Houston is 4-11 ATS in the last 15 games overall and 1-5 ATS in their last six home games.
Mariota’s playing status likely won’t be known until close to game time, and that will have an impact on this game and the rest of the season for the Titans.
That said, even if Mariota is good to go, I think the Texans have the advantage on the cover here. Houston has quietly been tearing through the opposition and I like them to keep it going here.
