The New Orleans Saints and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers meet in a week 14 NFC South division matchup from Raymond James Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The New Orleans Saints will be looking to lock up home field after clinching their division with a 10-2 record despite a 13-10 loss to Dallas in their last outing. Drew Brees has thrown for 3,262 yards, 30 touchdowns and 3 interceptions on 75.5% passing while Alvin Kamara has rushed for 742 yards and 11 touchdowns this season. Michael Thomas leads the Saints in receiving with 91 grabs for 1,120 yards and 8 touchdowns this season while the aforementioned Kamara has 65 catches out of the backfield for 555 yards and 4 scores. Defensively, Cameron Jordan leads New Orleans with 10 sacks and Sheldon Rankins has 7 sacks while Demario Davis leads the Saints with 59 tackles this season. As a team, New Orleans is averaging 396.6 yards of total offense and 34.9 points per game this season.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will look for a big win at home to improve on back-to-back wins after a 24-17 win over Carolina in their last outing. Ryan Fitzpatrick has thrown for 2,366 yards, 17 touchdowns and 12 interceptions while Peyton Barber leads Tampa Bay in rushing with 635 yards and 4 touchdowns this season. Mike Evans leads the Buccaneers’ receiving corps with 66 catches for 1,121 yards and 5 touchdowns while DeSean Jackson has 750 receiving yards and 4 touchdowns. Chris Godwin has 49 catches for 676 yards, Adam Humphries has 53 catches for 606 yards and O.J. Howard has 34 receptions for 565 yards this season with each logging 5 touchdowns through the air. Defensively, Jason Pierre-Paul leads the Bucs with 11.5 sacks while Lavonte David leads Tampa Bay with 66 tackles this season. As a team, Tampa Bay is averaging 442.7 yards of total offense and 26.5 points per game this season.
New Orleans is 9-1 ATS in their last 10 games overall and 19-7 ATS in their last 26 road games while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 games against a team with a losing record. Tampa Bay is 5-2 ATS in their last 7 division games and 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games following a win while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 home games. New Orleans is 1-4 ATS in the last 5 meetings between these two teams in Tampa Bay.
The Saints have had their struggles ATS in Tampa Bay and may be in for a bit of a letdown after clinching their division over the weekend. However, home field throughout the playoffs is still on the line for the Saints if the Rams slip up somewhere along the way, and you have to think the Saints will get back to their offensive ways and what better team to do it against than one of the worst defensive units in the league in terms of keeping points off of the board. Plus, you have to imagine that New Orleans wants revenge from their season-opening loss to Tampa Bay, so I’ll lay the points with New Orleans as I just don’t see Tampa Bay keeping up here.
