The Atlanta Falcons and the Carolina Panthers meet in an NFC South division matchup in a Madden 20 simulation game on Wednesday afternoon.
The Atlanta Falcons come into this game with a 2-1 sim record after a 24-14 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last time out. Julio Jones leads Atlanta’s offense with a 97 overall rating, 96 catching, 95 catching in traffic, 98 spectacular catch, 94 release and 96 jumping as well as a 92 speed rating, 91 acceleration and 95 agility. Austin Hooper is 89 overall with 97 catching and Matt Ryan comes in at 87 overall with 95 short pass accuracy and 90 medium pass accuracy while Devonta Freeman comes in at 85 overall at running back as the other parts of the offense in a three-pronged attack for Atlanta. Defensively, Grady Jarrett leads the way at 90 overall with 89 strength and 93 power moves. Deion Jones comes in at 86 overall while owning an impressive 90 speed rating at linebacker while Keanu Neal and Desmond Trufant lead the secondary with Neal at 85 overall while Trufant is at 84 overall with 92 speed, 93 acceleration and 96 agility.
The Carolina Panthers come into this one sitting at 2-0 after a 34-6 win over Denver in their last outing. The Panthers are in rare air as a team with two 99 overall rated players, and they have one on each side of the ball, but we’ll start on offense. Christian McCaffrey is Mr. Do It All for the Panthers with 92 speed, 93 acceleration and 97 agility as well as 98 carrying and 96 juke. Greg Olsen comes in as 88 overall at tight end with 93 catching and 93 catching in traffic while D.J. Moore comes in at 85 overall with 93 speed and acceleration and 81 catching. Cam Newton’s injury list has hampered his overall rating down to a 89 but he still remains the starting pivot for the Panthers. Defensively, Luke Kuechly holds onto the other 99 rating, with 90 jumping, 91 impact blocking and 99 tackling as well as 99 play recognition and 96 pursuit. After Kuechly, Gerald McCoy and Kawann Short bolster the defensive line at 85 and 84 overall, with both owning strength and impact blocking ratings in the low-90s.
Carolina and a low line is worth a look given that the Panthers already beat the Falcons in a simulation not long ago, but this game is what the line reflects, and that’s a coin flip. Granted, even with heavy lines a lot of these sims are coin flips, but I just think there’s not a lot separating the two. With that said, I just think that while Carolina has the two highest rated played in the matchup in McCaffrey and Kuechly, Atlanta has greater and higher rated depth in the matchup, so I’ll take the free point with Atlanta here.
