The Line: Kansas City Chiefs -6 -- Over/Under: 61.5
The Kansas City Chiefs and the Los Angeles Chargers meet in an AFC West division matchup to close out Wednesday’s slate of Madden simulations.
The Kansas City Chiefs come into this game looking to build on a 51-22 demolishing of the Oakland Raiders in their last outing. Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes comes in at 99 overall, with 96 throwing power as well as 97 short pass accuracy, 95 medium pass accuracy and 93 deep throwing accuracy. Tyreek Hill close behind at 96 overall, with a 91 rating in catching as well as 97 juke, 99 speed, 99 acceleration and 98 agility. Travis Kelce is level as well at 96 overall at tight end with attributed of 99 awareness, 85 speed as well as 91 ratings in catching in traffic and catching overall. Defensively, Chris Jones and Tyrann Mathieu lead the Chiefs defensive unit with Jones leading the D-line at 92 overall with 91 strength, 90 tackling, 89 finesse moves and 95 power moves while Mathieu bolsters KC’s secondary with a 90 man coverage grade as well as 89 in zone while also sitting at 90 speed, and 92 in acceleration and agility.
The Los Angeles Chargers come into this one looking to build on their 3-0 sim record after a 36-31 win over the crosstown rival Rams in their last game. Keenan Allen leads the group with a 92 overall rating, with 90 catching and 94 catching in traffic along with 89 speed and 92 grades in acceleration and agility. Hunter Henry comes in at 87 overall with 89 catching as well. Neither Melvin Gordon III or Philip Rivers are with the Chargers in reality anymore, but until next year’s Madden, they’re Chargers, and are here at 84 overall with Gordon logging 92 speed and agility with 90 carrying and juke as well while Rivers has 94 short passing accuracy and 92 medium pass accuracy. Defense is where the Chargers are stashing a lot of their higher rated players with Joey Bosa leading the D-Line at 91 overall with 90 impact blocks as well as 97 finesse moves and 87 strength while Casey Hayward Jr. leads the Chargers at 91 overall in the secondary with 91 acceleration and 92 agility to go with 89 speed and 90+ ratings in both man and zone coverage. Melvin Ingram III and Derwin James Jr. each have 88 overall ratings on the defensive end for the Chargers as well.
Safe to say that the Chiefs pose the biggest threat to L.A.’s currently unbeaten record and the defense finally showed up against Oakland. With that said, I still want to see if that defense holds up here as well, and if it does, I’ll be more inclined to take the Chiefs on a regular basis. Until then, the points hold some value as the Chargers have shown us different ways they win in these simulations, and scoring almost 30 points per game doesn’t hurt either when you’re getting almost a touchdown to being with. I’ll take my shot with the Chargers and the points here.
