The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Oakland Raiders square off in a Madden 20 NFL simulation game on Thursday afternoon.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will still be looking for their first simulation victory after falling to 0-3 with a 26-20 loss to the San Francisco 49ers last time out. Mike Evans and Chris Godwin form a formidable tandem in the Bucs’ receiving corps with Evans boasting a team-high 92 overall with 90 catching, 95 catching in traffic and 97 spectacular catch while Godwin comes in at 87 overall with 97 catching. Someone’s gotta throw them the ball, and for now, it’s still Jameis Winston at 78 overall. Defensively, Lavonte David leads Tampa Bay with a 90 overall rating, with 92 pursuit, 87 block shedding, 88 impact blocking and 89 tackling. Ndamukong Suh leads the defensive front at 86 overall with 93 impact blocking and Vita Vea is right behind at 85 overall with 91 impact blocking.
The Oakland Raiders will look to pick up their own first win after dropping to 0-4 with a 51-22 beatdown loss to Kansas City last time out. The Raiders have some solid O-linemen with Rodney Hudson at 93 overall, Richie Incognito at 87 overall and Trent Brown at 86 overall. Josh Jacobs and Darren Waller each have 85 overall ratings, with Jacobs owning 96 carrying and 91 acceleration while Waller has 89 speed, 89 acceleration and 96 catching. Tyrell Williams is Oakland’s top wideout at 82 overall with 92 speed, 93 acceleration and 95 agility. Derek Carr remains Oakland’s top option at QB with an 80 overall rating. Defensively, Lamarcus Joyner comes in with an 83 overall rating, including 88 speed and 92 acceleration. After Joyner, every defender on the Raiders owns a 79 overall rating or below.
Someone’s goose egg will be gone after this one, and personally, I think it’s Tampa Bay’s. Anything can happen in these simulations, and if these games weren’t coin flips already, the line almost reflects it with how close it is. Oakland’s hung around a bit, but the Raiders were just blown out by KC and lost to Denver by 12 in their first sim a couple of weeks ago. Tampa Bay’s been competitive in each of their matchups so far, and as bad as Jameis Winston’s been in reality, he’s been throwing for 400 yards on a game-to-game basis in these simulations, and with receivers like Godwin and Evans, it’s hard not to. I just think the Bucs have the better skill position players and as such, I’ll lay the points with Tampa Bay here.
