The Los Angeles Chargers and the New England Patriots meet in a Madden NFL 20 simulation game on Friday night.
The Los Angeles Chargers come into this one looking to bounce back from their first sim loss in the form of a 59-30 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in their last outing. Keenan Allen leads the Chargers at 92 overall with 90 catching and 94 catching in traffic in addition to 89 speed and 92 attribute ratings in acceleration and agility. Hunter Henry is L.A.’s top tight end at 87 overall with 89 catching as well. Melvin Gordon III or Philip Rivers are with the Chargers in real life anymore, but they’re on the team here at 84 overall with Gordon rated at 92 speed and 92 agility with 90 carrying and 90 juke while Rivers has 94 short pass accuracy and 92 medium pass accuracy. Defense is where the Chargers are keeping their top-rated guys with Joey Bosa leading the pass rush at 91 overall with 90 impact blocking as well as 97 finesse move and 87 strength while Casey Hayward Jr. is at 91 overall in the secondary with 91 acceleration and 92 agility in addition to 89 speed and 90+ ratings in man coverage and zone coverage. Melvin Ingram III and Derwin James Jr. each come in at 88 overall on the defensive end for the Chargers.
The New England Patriots hope to build on their third straight simulation win after a 40-7 beatdown over the Giants last time out. Tom Brady leads the New England offense at 91 overall with 90 throwing power and 96 short pass accuracy while his top target, Julian Edelman is the top rated receiver at 87 overall with 91 acceleration and 91 agility as well as 85 catching. James White leads the backfield for New England at 83 overall with 89 speed, 92 acceleration and 90 agility. On defense, Stephon Gilmore leads the way for New England with a 98 overall rating, including 99 awareness and 92 speed with 94 acceleration and 94 agility while also owning a 98 mark in man coverage and 96 in zone coverage. Devin McCourty also makes his home in the New England secondary at 92 overall with 93 zone coverage and in speed, agility and acceleration and Dont’a Hightower centers the linebacking corps at 88 overall with 91 impact blocking and 92 tackling as well as 93 play recognition and 93 pursuit.
There’s not a shame in the Chargers losing to the Chiefs as KC is still a good team in the game that just had a couple of bad outings. But Los Angeles did allow 59 points, and that’s not good when you have a New England team that’s been lighting it up offensively more often than not in these simulation matchups. These sim games are toss ups, but we’ve seen New England lay the wood anyways. I’ll lay the points with the Patriots here.
