Five Teams That Should Trade For Odell Beckham
2020 NFL Season
There’s been rumblings these past couple weeks about a Cleveland Browns Odell Beckham trade, and now league sources are telling Bleacher Reports Mike Freeman that it could just be a matter of time. With the NFL draft just days away, that trade could be sooner than later if there’s some smoke to this fire.
Here are five teams that could make the trade for OBJ.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Could you imagine Beckham, Mike Evans and OJ Howard on the same field? Good god. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers made the splash of landing Tom Brady, but now it’s about surrounding him with enough pieces to actually make a run at the playoffs. Beckham puts the Bucs in a completely different conversation and would certainly make them contenders to win the NFC South.
San Francisco 49ers - There’s been rumors for a while now that the 49ers are interested in Beckham, and he would certainly thrive in a Kyle Shanahan system. The 49ers have all the pieces in the world to make another Super Bowl run, but they could certainly use an extra weapon on the offensive end, especially after losing Emmanuel Sanders. We’ve seen Super Bowl runner-ups get aggressive before to really put them over the top. Beckham would do that for the 49ers.
Chicago Bears - The Chicago Bears have some nice weapons on the offensive side, but they lack a legit No. 1 receiver to allow the rest of the guys to squeeze into their role. Whether Nick Foles or Mitchell Trubisky is the starting quarterback this season, the Bears should do all they can to give them a fair shot to succeed. The Bears have a championship level defense and adding a wide receiver such as Beckham makes them a more balanced team.
Miami Dolphins - The Miami Dolphins have a million and one draft picks over the next two years and there’s no way they’re going to use them all. Why not put together a package to secure a top level wide receiver? If any team can make the Browns think about trading Beckham, it’s the Dolphins based on the draft capital. The Miami Dolphins have been impressive throughout free agency and can really go from bottom of the league to a team built to win in a year or so if they play their cards right. It wouldn’t be shocking to see the Dolphins test the waters here.
Philadelphia Eagles - The Philadelphia Eagles lost Nelson Agholor to free agency and now have injury prone DeSean Jackson and Alshon Jefferey as their top-two receiver options. There’s zero depth behind those guys with unproven Greg Ward and J.J. Arcega-Whiteside backing them up. It’s been a while since the Eagles had a top tier wide receiver and this is a team that many peg as a title contender when completely healthy. Beckham adds to a position of need and moves the Eagles up the totem pole.
