The Line: Dallas Cowboys -11 -- Over/Under: 45.5
The Washington Redskins and Dallas Cowboys meet Thursday night in a Madden20 simulation game.
The Washington Redskins have one player ranked in the 90s, and that’s left tackle Trent Williams who brings in a 92 overall rating and a 90 awareness rating. Right guard Brandon Scherff has an 88 overall rating, giving the Redskins an above-average offensive line in Madden20. As for the skill positions, the Redskins turn to tight end Jordan Reed who has an 84 overall rating and wide receiver Terry Mclaurin who is 81 overall. Quarterback, the Redskins are led by Dwayne Haskins who is 70 overall with a 70 awareness rating and 76 speed rating. The Washington Redskins are one of those teams in this game you have to play really conservative with, as they don’t have the horses on either side of the ball to really flip a game. Rely on defense and ground game and hope Haskins doesn’t make the turnover that kills your bet.
The Dallas Cowboys have four players ranked 91 or better overall in running back Ezekiel Elliott, wide receiver Amari Cooper and offensive linemen Zack Martin and Tyron Smith. That makes for a strong running game and a difference maker on the outside. Quarterback Dan Prescott is rated 81 overall, but he has a decent speed rating of 83 and acceleration rating of 86, so he can hurt defenses with his feet. Speaking of the defense, the Cowboys have a shutdown corner in Byron Jones who has an 88 rating overall and a top tier pass rusher in DeMarcus Lawrence who also has an 88 rating overall and a 88 acceleration rating. The Dallas Cowboys are loaded with difference makers on both sides of the ball and have to be one of the more balanced teams in this years version of Madden.
The Dallas Cowboys are one of the more highly rated teams in this game and have the offensive potential to open games up ad then lean on the ground game to put matchups on ice. The Washington Redskins don't have a whole lot going for them and their offensive rating of 75 is one of the worst in this entire game. Relying on the Redskins to do much in this game is asking a lot.
With that said, I'm not looking to lay big numbers in these simulations where I have to rely on a computer to play correctly. We've seen time and time again boneheaded plays that cost teams points. You have to really like a matchup to lay these sort of numbers. Give me the Redskins and the boatload of points, as I'm backing all underdogs on Thursday's card.
