The Chicago Bears and Detroit Lions meet Friday afternoon in a Madden20 simulation game.
The Chicago Bears rely heavily on the defensive side of the ball, as six of their top-seven ranked players are defensive players. Linebacker Khalil Mack leads the Bears with 98 overall rating while Eddie Jackson and Kyle Fuller make for one of the better secondary’s in the game. Surprisingly, wide receiver Allen Robinson is the Bears second best rated player at a 89 overall. Overall, it’s hard to get behind the Chicago Bears who have a quarterback in Mitch Trubisky who has a rating of 73 overall, which is the same as their punter Pat O’Donnell. The Bears defense should keep them in games, but you really lack confidence if this team gets behind early and has to rely on throwing the ball to get back in it.
The Detroit Lions don’t have a single player ranked in the 90s, but their top three ranked players are on the defensive side of the ball in Damon Harrison, Darius Slay and Trey Flowers. The Lions then have two respectable receivers ranked in the mid 80s in Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones, while quarterback Matthew Stafford is ranked 82 overall with a 78 acceleration rating. The Lions have a more than respectable defense in this game and a decent trio of wide receivers when you throw in Danny Amendola, but there’s something about this squad that doesn’t move the needle all that much. Maybe it’s the lack of top tier talent or a quarterback that’s pretty much been the same level his whole career, but the Lions aren’t a team people are running to play with in Madden20.
The Chicago Bears are probably the more balanced team here and have a serious edge given the stacked and highly ranked defense, but I question their offensive ability and don't like backing teams led by quarterbacks with low awareness ratings. The Detroit Lions don't have many top tier rated players, but their offense is better than expected and Stafford can make some plays in the virtual world.
In a true pick em game, I'll lean toward the Detroit Lions at home.
