The Line: Minnesota Vikings -2.5 -- O/U: 55
The Minnesota Vikings and the New York Jets meet in a Madden 20 NFL simulation game on Sunday afternoon.
The Minnesota Vikings will try to build on their current five-game sim winning streak after a 37-24 win over the Houston Texans last time out. Stefon Diggs isn’t a Viking anymore, but he’s still with Minnesota in this game with a 93 overall rating with 92 catching, 91 speed, 93 acceleration and 93 agility. Adam Thielen has a 91 overall rating at the other wide receiver spot with 90 speed and 93 grades in acceleration and agility as well. Thielen also has 95 catching and 90 catching in traffic. Dalvin Cook leads the Vikings’ ground attack at 90 overall with 91 speed, 92 acceleration and 94 agility while Kyle Rudolph is an 84 overall rated tight end and Kirk Cousins is 84 overall at starting QB. On defense, Harrison Smith leads Minnesota at 95 overall with 93 power, 92 zone coverage, 95 play recognition and 93 pursuit. The Vikings have a group of 90 overall rated defenders, with Everson Griffen and Danielle Hunter sitting opposite on the D-line while Eric Kendricks hunkers down the linebacking corps. Linval Joseph also sits at 86 overall in the middle of the defensive line.
The New York Jets will try to build on back-to-back sim victories after a 47-30 win over Miami last time out. Le’Veon Bell leads the Jets’ offense at 88 overall, including 89 speed, 92 acceleration and 95 agility as well as 88 carrying and 91 juke. Robby Anderson leads New York’s receiving corps at 84 overall with 91 catching while Sam Darnold is rated 74 overall as New York’s starting QB. On the defense, Jamal Adams leads the Jets with a 92 overall rating, with 95 power and 92 zone coverage as well as 91 speed and 90 acceleration. The Jets also possess a pair of 85 overall rated middle linebackers in C.J. Mosley and Avery Williamson, with both boasting 89 acceleration and Mosley having 91 tackling while Williamson has 86 block shedding.
I can try to make a case for the Jets and the points given how electric the offense has been in each of their last two games, totalling 101 points against Miami and Denver. However, Minnesota continues to get no respect with these kinds of lines, and while these are sim games and are a coin flip, we’ve seen enough of a positive sample size from the Vikes to say that there’s value here with such a low line. I’ll lay the points with Minnesota in this spot.
