The New England Patriots and New York Giants meet Wednesday afternoon in a Madden20 simulation game.
The New England Patriots have three players ranked in the 90s in cornerback Stephon Gilmore, quarterback Tom Brady and safety Devin McCourty. This day is obviously all about Brady with the Patriots hosting four simulation games, and he brings a 95 awareness rating to the table with a 70 agility rating. However, when you throw in linebacker Dont’a Hightower and his 88 overall rating, the Pats rely heavily on their defense in this game with three of their top-four ranked players being on that side of the ball. Offensively, wide receiver Julian Edelman has a solid 91 acceleration rating and 87 overall rating, while the offensive line has three players with an 84 overall rating or above. The New England Patriots are short on offensive weapons, but they have an effective defense and a quarterback who doesn’t get fooled often and takes care of the football.
The New York Giants are heavy offensive team with their top-five ranked players being on that side of the ball starting with running back Saquon Barkley who is a 89 overall with a 92 speed rating. Tight end Evan Engram is an 88 overall with an 88 awareness rating, while wide receiver Golden Tate is an 83 overall rating and 96 agility rating. The concern with the Giants is quarterback Daniel Jones brings in a 70 overall rating with a 72 awareness rating and 84 speed rating. Defensively, defensive end Leonard Williams is the highest rated player at 82 overall and defensive tackle Dalvin Tomlinson is 80 overall with an 88 strength rating. The New York Giants are light on game changing talent, but you can win with this team if you know how to control the offensive line and mix up a power running game.
The New England Patriots are the better team and they can blow the doors off when the defense shows up and creates turnovers. However, the New York Giants are solid in the trenches and control the line of scrimmage a lot in these simulations. It's not always pretty, but the Giants can grind games out and surprise people with the results. I also have a thing about not wanting to lay a ton of points in these simulations where we see weird things happen daily.
I don't feel good about it, but give me the Giants and the free points.
