The Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears meet Thursday afternoon in a Madden20 simulation game.
The Green Bay Packers have three players ranked 90 or better overall in left tackle David Bakhtiari, wide receiver Davante Adams and defensive tackle Kenny Clark. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers comes in with an 89 rating overall, a 82 rating in acceleration and a 91 awareness rating. Of course, a lot of the Packers success comes down to quarterback play and as long as he takes care of the ball, they’ll give you a chance to win no matter who they play. The problem is the Packers have limited weapons outside of quarterback, so scoring can be limited at times and the ground game has been weak in past simulations. However, the Green Bay Packers have eight players with an awareness rating of at least 90, which is important in a computer simulation where you’re counting on guys to do their job correctly.
The Chicago Bears rely heavily on the defensive side of the ball, as six of their top-seven ranked players are defensive players. Linebacker Khalil Mack leads the Bears with 98 overall rating while Eddie Jackson and Kyle Fuller make for one of the better secondary’s in the game. Surprisingly, wide receiver Allen Robinson is the Bears second best rated player at a 89 overall. Overall, it’s hard to get behind the Chicago Bears who have a quarterback in Mitch Trubisky who has a rating of 73 overall, which is the same as their punter Pat O’Donnell. The Bears defense should keep them in games, but you really lack confidence if this team gets behind early and has to rely on throwing the ball to get back in it.
The Chicago Bears have a highly rated defense that keeps them in games and makes them intriguing in the underdog role, but I'm always worried about how the offense is going to find success against above-average teams. The Green Bay Packers have their flaws as well, but they're also led by one of the top quarterbacks in the game and we've seen this club put up video game numbers in past simulations.
Because of the more trustworthy offense, I'll lay the field goal with the Packers.
