The New England Patriots and Green Bay Packers meet Wedensday night in a Madden20 simulation game.
The New England Patriots have three players ranked in the 90s in cornerback Stephon Gilmore, quarterback Tom Brady and safety Devin McCourty. This day is obviously all about Brady with the Patriots hosting four simulation games, and he brings a 95 awareness rating to the table with a 70 agility rating. However, when you throw in linebacker Dont’a Hightower and his 88 overall rating, the Pats rely heavily on their defense in this game with three of their top-four ranked players being on that side of the ball. Offensively, wide receiver Julian Edelman has a solid 91 acceleration rating and 87 overall rating, while the offensive line has three players with an 84 overall rating or above. The New England Patriots are short on offensive weapons, but they have an effective defense and a quarterback who doesn’t get fooled often and takes care of the football.
The Green Bay Packers have three players ranked 90 or better overall in left tackle David Bakhtiari, wide receiver Davante Adams and defensive tackle Kenny Clark. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers comes in with an 89 rating overall, a 82 rating in acceleration and a 91 awareness rating. Of course, a lot of the Packers success comes down to quarterback play and as long as he takes care of the ball, they’ll give you a chance to win no matter who they play. The problem is the Packers have limited weapons outside of quarterback, so scoring can be limited at times and the ground game has been weak in past simulations. However, the Green Bay Packers have eight players with an awareness rating of at least 90, which is important in a computer simulation where you’re counting on guys to do their job correctly.
These teams have a lot of similarities in this game, as they're both led by highly ranked quarterbacks and offenses that can get the job done, but they both have holes on the defensive side. It's not shocking to see either the Pats or Packers get gashed in the ground game and lose a game they probably shouldn't have lost. It makes it tough to get behind these teams sometimes.
With all that said, I'll take my chances with the Packers and the free points. This game could truly go either way and I feel safer having a few points in my back pocket.
