The New York Jets and the New England Patriots meet in a Madden 20 NFL Sim Classic on Wednesday afternoon.
The New York Jets will look for a second win in as many tries after opening the Sim Classic with a 38-17 win over the Buffalo Bills last time out. Le’Veon Bell leads the Jets on offense at 88 overall, including 89 speed, 92 acceleration and 95 agility as well as 88 carrying and 91 juke. Robby Anderson leads New York’s receiving group at 84 overall with 91 catching while Sam Darnold is rated 74 overall as New York’s starting QB. On the defense, Jamal Adams leads the Jets with a 92 overall rating, with 95 power and 92 zone coverage as well as 91 speed and 90 acceleration. The Jets also possess a pair of 85 overall rated middle linebackers in C.J. Mosley and Avery Williamson, with both possessing 89 acceleration and Mosley having 91 tackling while Williamson has 86 block shedding.
The New England Patriots will look to pick up their second win as well after a 41-37 win over Miami in their last game. Tom Brady leads the Pats under center in this game with a 91 overall rating with 90 throw power and 96 short pass accuracy while Julian Edelman is the top target in the Patriots’ receiving corps at 87 overall with 91 acceleration, 91 agility and 85 catching. James White leads New England’s ground attack at 83 overall with 89 speed, 92 acceleration and 90 agility. On defense, Stephon Gilmore leads the Pats with a 98 overall rating with 99 awareness and 92 speed with 94 acceleration and 94 agility while also rated at 98 in man coverage and 96 in zone coverage. Devin McCourty is New England’s second-highest rated defensive back at 92 overall with 93 zone coverage and 90 marks across the board in speed, agility and acceleration. Dont’a Hightower leads New England’s linebacking corps at 88 overall with 91 impact blocking and 92 tackling in addition to 93 play recognition and 93 pursuit.
I get the Patriots being favored, but anyone who has followed me during these sim games knows that while I like the Pats and find certain spots for them to beat on the competition, we saw against Miami what we’ve seen multiple times during the sim matchups, and that’s that New England’s defense doesn’t always translate the way it did in real life. New York has shown multiple times that they’re capable of putting up enough points to keep themselves in the game and sometimes win outright. New England won the first time by a score of 31-10, but I think this one’s closer, so I’ll take a shot with New York and the points.
