The New York Jets and New England Patriots meet Thursday afternoon in a Madden20 simulation game.
The New York Jets didn’t win a whole lot in the real life season, but they have some talent on the video game side, especially on defense where safety Jalen Adams and linebackers CJ Mosely and Avery Williamson are all ranked 85 or higher overall. Running back Le’Veon Bell carries an 88 overall rating with a 89 speed rating and 92 acceleration rating. Wide receiver Robby Anderson is the fastest player on the team with a 94 speed rating and 84 overall rating. Quarterback Sam Darnold has a 74 overall rating with a 77 awareness rating and a 83 acceleration rating. For a team that didn’t win a whole lot on the actual field, the New York Jets have some talent in the virtual world and they’re good enough to win with if played with online. Don’t sleep on these Jets.
The New England Patriots have three players ranked in the 90s in cornerback Stephon Gilmore, quarterback Tom Brady and safety Devin McCourty. This day is obviously all about Brady with the Patriots hosting four simulation games, and he brings a 95 awareness rating to the table with a 70 agility rating. However, when you throw in linebacker Dont’a Hightower and his 88 overall rating, the Pats rely heavily on their defense in this game with three of their top-four ranked players being on that side of the ball. Offensively, wide receiver Julian Edelman has a solid 91 acceleration rating and 87 overall rating, while the offensive line has three players with an 84 overall rating or above. The New England Patriots are short on offensive weapons, but they have an effective defense and a quarterback who doesn’t get fooled often and takes care of the football.
The New England Patriots are obviously the much better team in this game and probably should win by a comfortable margin. However, the Pats can be hit or miss in these simulations, especially on the defensive side of the ball where they can have serious issues stopping the run. The New York Jets are also a fairly respectable team in this game despite the lack of success on the actual field, as they have underrated offensive weapons and a physical defense that gets after it in All Madden mode.
I also don't love laying big chalk in these computer games. Give me the Jets and the free points.
