The Line: New England Patriots -6.5 -- O/U: 55.5
The Buffalo Bills and the New England Patriots meet in a Madden 20 NFL Sim Classic matchup on Saturday night.
The Buffalo Bills will look to build off of their first Sim Classic win in the form of a 35-6 win over Miami in their last appearance. Cole Beasley and John Brown lead the Bills on offense at the two wide receiver spots, coming in at 83 overall, with Brown being the speedier of the two in-game with 92 speed and 90 acceleration while Beasley is the more agile and shifty receiver with 92 agility. Frank Gore and Devin Singletary are the tandem at RB for the Bills at 80 overall, while Josh Allen is at 77 overall as the Bills’ starting QB. On defense, the DBs are Buffalo’s greatest asset with Micah Hyde and Tre’Davious White both at 88 overall, with White possessing 91 speed and 93 acceleration at cornerback while Hyde has a 91 zone coverage rating at free safety. Jordan Poyer is 85 overall at strong safety and Lorenzo Alexander is a decent 83 overall at one of the outside linebacker positions.
The New England Patriots will look to finish unbeaten in group play after improving to 2-0 with a 27-12 win over the New York Jets last time out. Tom Brady leads New England at quarterback in this game with a 91 overall rating with 90 throw power and 96 short pass accuracy while Julian Edelman is the top guy in New England’s receiving group at 87 overall with 91 acceleration, 91 agility and 85 catching. James White leads the Patriots’ ground attack at 83 overall with 89 speed, 92 acceleration and 90 agility. On defense, Stephon Gilmore leads the Patriots with a 98 overall rating with 99 awareness and 92 speed with 94 acceleration and 94 agility while also rated at 98 in man coverage and 96 in zone coverage. Devin McCourty is New England’s second-highest rated defensive back at 92 overall with 93 zone coverage and 90 marks across the board in speed, agility and acceleration. Dont’a Hightower leads New England’s linebacking corps at 88 overall with 91 impact blocking and 92 tackling in addition to 93 play recognition and 93 pursuit.
I’d like to give the Bills a shot with their proverbial Sim Classic life on the line, but the problem is that the Bills have been one of the more disappointing sim teams compared to what we’ve seen in reality and a win over Miami doesn’t change that for me. New England’s had their ups and downs, but they’re the better team here and have a much stronger team ratings wise. I’ll lay the points with New England here.
