The Carolina Panthers and Baltimore Ravens meet Sunday afternoon in a Madden20 simulation game.
The Carolina Panthers may not have won much in real life last season, but they have two difference makers in linebacker Luke Kuechly and running back Christian McCaffrey, both who are ranked 99 overall. The Panthers then have three other players rated 85 or higher in tight end Greg Olsen, defensive end Gerald McCoy and wide receiver DJ Moore. You quickly learn that the Panthers have a lot more talent in the video game world than they may have on the actual football field and you can win playing with this team. Since these are 2019 rosters, the Panthers also have a healthy and effective Cam Newton at quarterback, and he’s a decent 79 overall with an 85 speed rating and 88 acceleration rating. For a club that didn’t do much last year, the Panthers are much better than people would think.
The Baltimore Ravens have five players ranked 91 overall or better, including safety Earl Thomas, left tackle Ronnie Stanley, quarterback Lamar Jackson, right guard Marshal Yanda and defensive tackle Michael Pierce. Not only do the Ravens have a stacked offensive line, but they have a quarterback who has a 96 speed rating and 96 acceleration rating, which makes him the modern Michael Vick and pretty much a cheat code in the video game world. Running back Mark Ingram is also tough to bring down and kicker Justin Tucker misses almost nothing with his 87 overall rating. The Baltimore Ravens may not have won the Super Bowl in real life, but they’re absolutely loaded in Madden and almost unfair to play with if you find yourself playing online.
I usually shy away from laying a bunch of points in these simulations, but the Carolina Panthers are just one of those teams that I don't trust when playing above-average teams due to the young quarterback and a lack of weapons at key positions across the board. The Baltimore Ravens have a bunch of highly rated players and a cheat code at quarterback in Lamar Jackson. This has the feel of the Ravens striking early and never looking back due to the lack of firepower on the Panthers side.
I'll lay the touchdown with the Ravens in this contest.
