The Line: Washington Redskins -2.5 -- O/U: 55
The Washington Redskins and the New York Giants meet in a Madden 20 NFL Sim Classic matchup on Sunday morning.
The Washington Redskins will look to pick up another W to improve on their 1-1 Sim Classic record after a 41-36 win over Dallas last time out. The Redskins’ greatest strength is their offensive line, with Trent Williams leading the way with a 92 overall rating including 95 strength, 92 pass block and 93 run block while Brandon Scherff is 88 overall with 90 run blocking and 92 strength. Jordan Reed leads Washington as their top pass-catcher at 84 overall with 87 catching and 87 catching in traffic while Terry McLaurin is at 81 overall at wide receiver and Derrius Guice leads the Redskins’ backfield at 80 overall, sharing the ball carrier work with Adrian Peterson who is rated at a 79 overall. Dwayne Haskins Jr. is the starting QB for Washington despite being rated at just 70 overall. On defense, Matt Ioannidis leads the unit with an 85 overall rating with 86 acceleration and 86 strength to go along with 84 tackling and 89 power moves while Ryan Kerrigan is at 84 overall at outside linebacker with 88 power move, 88 impact blocking and 86 acceleration.
The New York Giants will try to play spoiler, sitting at 0-2 in the Sim Classic after a 36-28 loss to Philadelphia in their last appearance. Saquon Barkley leads the Giants on offense with an 89 overall rating, with 92 speed, 93 acceleration, 96 agility, 94 carrying and 94 juke ratings. Evan Engram leads the New York’s receiving group at tight end at 88 overall with 88 catching, 90 speed and 91 acceleration while Golden Tate III and Sterling Shepard make up a good tandem at wide receiver with each logging 90 speed and 91 acceleration with Tate III having 89 catching compared to Shepard’s 88. On the defense, Leonard Williams is the only player rated 80+ overall on the Giants on that end of the ball.
These simulations don’t take the Sim Classic standings into consideration, but a win could go a long way in terms of putting Washington in the knockout rounds of the Sim Classic. But what I do know from these sim games is that the Giants are one of the worst teams in the game and Washington has shown some signs of solid play in these sims. Laying less than a field goal feels like a gift with the Redskins here, so I’ll do that and give up the points as I want nothing to do with the Giants.
