The Houston Texans and the Pittsburgh Steelers meet in a Madden 20 NFL Sim Classic matchup on Wednesday afternoon.
The Houston Texans come into the knockout round with a Sim Classic record of 2-1 after a 33-17 win over Tennessee in their last game. DeAndre Hopkins leads the Texans, rated 98 overall with 98 catching as well as 99 marks in catching in traffic, spectacular catch, release and jumping with 92 speed, 93 acceleration and 92 agility at wide receiver. Deshaun Watson is rated at 86 overall as Houston’s starting QB with 88 acceleration, 84 speed and 89 throw power while Lamar Miller is close behind at 84 overall in the Houston backfield with 91 carrying, 89 juke, 92 speed, 91 agility and 91 acceleration. Defensively, J.J. Watt leads at 97 overall with 97 strength, 94 impact blocking, 97 tackling, 93 finesse move and 94 power move. D.J. Reader and Justin Reid also come in at 84 overall for Houston’s defense with Reader on the defensive line and Reid in the secondary.
The Pittsburgh Steelers come in at 3-0 after a 38-27 win over Baltimore to take their group in their last appearance. JuJu Smith-Schuster leads the Steelers at wide receiver with an 86 overall rating, which includes a rating of 91 speed and 92 acceleration as well as 90 catching and 93 catching in traffic while James Conner is Pittsburgh’s top running back with an 81 overall rating with 86 speed, 89 acceleration and 89 carrying. Ben Roethlisberger is the starting pivot with an 81 overall rating with 89 throwing power and 89 short passing accuracy. On the defense, Cameron Heyward leads Pittsburgh rated at 90 overall with 93 strength, 91 tackling and 92 power move while Stephon Tuitt is on the other side of the front at 87 overall with 90 block shedding and 91 strength.
These playoff games are going to be hard to call as a lot of the matchups will probably feature the best of the best in this game. With that said, as good as Houston is ratings-wise, the Texans have had games where they just slip off and don’t play as well as their ratings could indicate. Pittsburgh on the other hand beat the crap out of the AFC North in the group stage, winning each of their games by double-digits and two of those games were against the Ravens (who have a solid defense and a 92 overall Lamar Jackson) and the Browns (who have 90+ overall guys like Nick Chubb and OBJ). I just like the Steelers in these simulations and this matchup is no different. I’ll lay the points with Pittsburgh here.
