The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Atlanta Falcons meet Sunday afternoon in a Madden20 simulation game.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are actually a respectable team in this video game, as they have two players ranked in the 90s in wide receiver Mike Evans and linebacker Lavonte David. The Bucs also have five other players ranked 85 overall or better, including defensive linemen Ndamukong Suh and Vita Vea. Quarterback Jameis Winston carries a 78 overall rating with a 81 acceleration rating, but his awareness rating is just 75, so like in real life, he’s prone to mistakes and turnovers. Still, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have some difference makers on both sides of the field and are far more loaded on defense than most people would expect. The Buccaneers have become that sneaky good team in Madden that people can win with if they know what they’re doing.
The Atlanta Falcons have two players ranked 90 overall or higher in wide receiver Julio Jones and defensive tackle Grady Jarrett. Jones damn near dominates single coverage on every play and Jarrett has a 95 awareness rating and 89 strength rating, so he’s consistently doing his job and demands double teams. Austin Hooper is one of the better tight ends in the game of Madden and running back Devonta Freeman is a 92 rating in speed, 91 rating in acceleration and 94 in agility. Quarterback Matt Ryan isn’t as hot as he was when the game first launched, but he’s still a decent 89 in awareness and 80 in acceleration and is a winnable QB to play with. The Atlanta Falcons used to be a fun team to play with, and while they lost some of that steam over the year or two, they still have some highly rated players who can change a game.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are solid enough defensively to where they can hang around in games like this, but I don't like to back them much due to the subpar quarterback play and the turnovers that come offensively. The Atlanta Falcons are one of those teams that's better in video game form than in real life, and they have an explosive offense that can really open up the game. Julio Jones is a nightmare for opposing defenses.
I'll lay the field goal with the Falcons.
