Josh Allen and Bills 2020 Outlook - As the 2020 NFL season inches ever closer, we’re starting to get a clearer picture of how certain teams and players will look. One interesting situation that’s been a topic of discussion this offseason is out in Buffalo with franchise QB Josh Allen, who is entering his third year.
That number-three campaign is usually a critical one for franchise quarterbacks, as by that point they’ve normally racked up enough experience to take huge developmental steps as the game slows down. Allen doesn’t have quite as much experience as some of the other guys from the 2018 draft, but he’ll be a player to watch in his potential breakout year. So far Allen’s stats solid in some areas but not mind-boggling overall—he’s got 5,163 pass yards, 1,141 rush yards, 30 pass TDs, 17 rush TDs and 21 interceptions.
There are a few things Allen will have to work on in order to take that next step as a QB in 2020. He’s got to get through his reads faster and deal with pressure passing better. The Bills have been consciously attempting to build talent around their young quarterback, one of those big names being Stefon Diggs. With an 81.8 percent catch rate and good separation capabilities, Diggs should help both Allen and Buffalo thrive this year. The Bills will be an interesting team to watch in the AFC East, and could potentially dethrone the Tom Brady-less Patriots. Finally.
Jamal Adams Trade Update - We’ve been monitoring the avalanche of trade rumors surrounding Jets All-Pro safety Jamal Adams for quite some time now, and looking back it’s been a strange series of events. It all started back in October when word broke that New York was actively shopping Adams, but couldn’t find a team to agree with their steep terms (a first-round draft pick and potentially more).
Over the weekend, reports intensified that Adams was requesting a trade, and his ideal destination was his hometown team the Cowboys. It’s safe to say both organizations have at least been testing the waters, and Dallas fans have been clamoring for a much-needed Adams trade to bolster their relatively weak secondary.
That said, Adams going to the Cowboys isn’t a done deal. Dallas would have to figure out a way to get Adams paid, and also pay deserving guys like Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliott and Amari Cooper. It would be a stretch, but some creative financial wrangling could probably get it done.
If Adams doesn’t go to the Cowboys? Well, there have been some rumors of another NFC East team kicking the proverbial tires: the Philadelphia Eagles. If Philly can swoop in and snag Adams, they’ll further secure their position in a wide-open division. There’s sure to be much more coming on this story, so stay tuned for additional info in the daily updates.
