The Carolina Panthers and the Tennessee Titans meet in a Madden 20 NFL simulation game on Friday afternoon.
The Carolina Panthers will look to build off of a 38-28 win over the Baltimore Ravens in their last sim matchup. Carolina is in arguably the most enviable spot in this year’s Madden as the only team with two of the game’s five players with a 99 overall rating, and they have one on each side of the ball. Christian McCaffrey leads the Carolina offense with 92 speed, 93 acceleration and 97 agility as well as 98 carrying and 96 juke. Greg Olsen is 88 overall at tight end with 93 catching and 93 catching in traffic while D.J. Moore comes in at 85 overall with 93 speed and acceleration and 81 catching at wide receiver. Cam Newton may be healthy in the game, but his overall rating is still down to 79 yet he still remains the starting quarterback for Carolina. On defense, Luke Kuechly holds onto the other 99 rating at linebacker, with 90 jumping, 91 impact blocking and 99 tackling as well as 99 play recognition and 96 pursuit. After Kuechly, Gerald McCoy and Kawann Short anchor the defensive line at 85 and 84 overall, with both possessing strength and impact blocking ratings in the low-90s.
The Tennessee Titans will look to build off of a 24-21 win over Cleveland in their last sim appearance. Derrick Henry leads the Titans with a 91 overall rating with 91 speed, 87 strength, 91 carrying and 98 stiff arm while Delanie Walker comes up at 86 overall as the Titans’ top pass catcher and tight end with 86 catching. A.J. Brown and Corey Davis make up an the top tandem at wide receiver, rated just 80 and 79 overall respectively, while Ryan Tannehill comes in at 80 overall at starting QB for the Titans. On defense, Kevin Byard shares the team-high on the defensive end at 91 overall with 93 zone coverage and 90 speed while Logan Ryan is at 86 overall at cornerback with 87 speed, 91 acceleration and 90 agility with 92 play recognition. Jurrell Casey also checks in at 85 overall at right defensive end with 92 play recognition, 89 tackling and 89 impact blocking as well as 92 strength.
I can understand the case to be made for Tennessee and free points, but the fact is that I’m still not sold on anything Titans outside of Derrick Henry, maybe Delanie Walker and a couple of guys on Tennessee’s defense. Carolina still has some talented pieces on their roster like Kuechly and McCaffrey, and the Panthers have just been a lot more consistent with getting the job done. I’ll lay the points with Carolina in this one.
