The New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks meet Sunday in week 2 NFL action at CenturyLink Field.

The New England Patriots look for a quick 2-0 start after beating the Miami Dolphins in their season opener. The New England Patriots have won six of their last eight road games. Cam Newton is completing 78.9 percent of his passes for 155 yards, zero touchdowns and zero interceptions. Newton hasn’t had a passing touchdown since December of 2018. Julian Edelman and N’Keal Harry have combined for 96 receiving yards on 10 catches while James White has three receptions. The New England Patriots ground game is averaging 217 yards per contest, and Newton leads the way with 75 yards and two touchdowns. Defensively, New England is allowing 11 points and 269 yards per game. Adrian Phillips leads the New England Patriots with nine tackles, Derek Rivers has one sack and Stephon Gilmore has one interception.

The Seattle Seahawks look for a statement victory after already beating the Atlanta Falcons in their season opener. The Seattle Seahawks have split their last eight home games. Russell Wilson is completing 88.6 percent of his passes for 322 yards, four touchdowns and zero interceptions. Wilson has two or more touchdown passes in four of his last six games. DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett have combined for 187 receiving yards and one touchdown while Chris Carson has six receptions. The Seattle Seahawks ground game is averaging 84 yards per contest, and Wilson leads the way with 29 yards on three carries. Defensively, Seattle is allowing 25 points and 506 yards per game. Jamal Adams leads the Seattle Seahawks with 12 tackles, Benson Mayowa has one sack and Quandre Diggs has one interception.

The Patriots are 7-3 against the spread in their last 10 road games, 5-1 against the spread in their last 6 games in Week 2 and 1-5-1 against the spread in their last 7 games overall. The Seahawks are 2-7 against the spread in their last 9 home games, 3-1-1 against the spread in their last 5 games as a favorite and 1-4-1 against the spread in their last 6 games overall. The under is 15-7 in Patriots last 22 road games. The over is 5-0 in the last 5 meetings.

The New England Patriots didn’t miss a beat in their season opener and their offense has more life to it with Newton running a college style offense with a ton of window dressing and a unique running attack. The issue now is there’s film on this Patriots offense, and the Seahawks offense is much more athletic, physical than the Dolphins. The Seahawks offense was also firing on all cylinders in their season opener with Wilson appearing to be in regular season form out the gate. This game will give us a much better idea about the Pats and their new looks. Until then, I’m leaning toward the Seahawks by a touchdown.
