NFL ATS Picks: New York Giants vs San Francisco 49ers NFL Picks, and Predictions 9/27/20

The San Francisco 49ers and New York Giants meet Sunday in week 3 NFL action at MetLife Stadium.

The San Francisco 49ers look for another road victory to get a game above a .500 record. The San Francisco 49ers have won eight of their last nine road games. Jimmy Garoppolo is completing 67.3 percent of his passes for 390 yards, four touchdowns and zero interceptions. Garoppolo has two or more touchdown passes in six of his last 11 games. Raheem Mostert and Kendrick Bourne have combined for 211 receiving yards and one touchdown while Jordan Reed has nine receptions. The San Francisco 49ers ground game is averaging 152.5 yards per contest, and Mostert leads the way with 148 yards and one touchdown. Defensively, San Francisco is allowing 18.5 points and 340.5 yards per game. Fred Warner leads the San Francisco 49ers with 21 tackles, Kerry Hyder Jr. has one sack and Jaquiski Tartt has one interception.

The New York Giants need a win here to avoid their first 0-3 start since the 2017 NFL season. The New York Giants have lost six of their last seven home games. Daniel Jones is completing 63 percent of his passes for 520 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions. Jones has two or more touchdown passes in four of his last seven games. Darius Slayton and Sterling Shepard have combined for 211 receiving yards and two touchdowns while Evan Engram has eight receptions. The New York Giants ground game is averaging 52 yards per contest, and Jones leads the way with 43 yards on seven carries. Defensively, New York is allowing 21.5 points and 326.5 yards per game. Blake Martinez leads the New York Giants with 21 tackles, Leonard Williams has one sack and James Bradberry has one interception.

The 49ers are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games as a favorite, 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games and 1-4-1 ATS vs. a team with a losing record. The Giants are 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games in September, 7-18-1 ATS in their last 26 home games and 1-11 ATS in their last 12 games as a home underdog. The over is 8-3-1 in 49ers last 12 vs. NFC. The over is 4-1 in Giants last 5 games overall. The underdog is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 meetings.

The New York Giants weren’t a good football team to begin with entering the season and the loss of star running back Saquon Barkley doesn’t improve things. The San Francisco 49ers are clearly the better team, but they’re dealing with injury issues of their own, as defensive end Nick Bosa is out for the year, and quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and tight end George Kittle are questionable with injuries of their own. I can’t get behind either of these teams with much confidence given the injuries to key players, but I’d have to lean the Giants at home and the free points. I’m not laying chalk with a road team that could be without three of its best players.

Give me the Giants and the points.
