The Philadelphia Eagles and the Pittsburgh Steelers meet in a battle of Pennsylvania in NFL action from Heinz Field on Sunday afternoon.
The Philadelphia Eagles will look to build on their first win of the season coming in the form of a 25-20 win over San Francisco last time out. Carson Wentz has thrown for 930 yards, 4 touchdowns and 7 interceptions on 60.6% passing while also rushing for 111 yards and 3 scores. Miles Sanders leads the Eagles in rushing with 236 rushing yards while Greg Ward has a team-high 146 receiving yards on 18 grabs. Zach Ertz leads Philadelphia with 19 catches for 139 yards while Dallas Goedert is right behind with 138 receiving yards and DeSean Jackson has 121 receiving yards. Defensively, Nathan Gerry leads the Eagles with 33 total tackles while Rodney McLeod and Avonte Maddox each have a team-high 19 solo tackes. Josh Sweat and Brandon Graham each have a team-high 3 sacks with Graham logging 5 tackles for a loss to Sweat’s 4. Derek Barnett also has 2.5 sacks this season and 3 tackles for a loss.
The Pittsburgh Steelers will look to build off of their 3-0 start despite having their last game with Tennessee postponed due to a COVID outbreak within the Titans’ organization. Ben Roethlisberger has thrown for 777 yards, 7 touchdowns and an interception on 67% passing while James Conner leads the Steelers in rushing with 224 rushing yards and 2 TDs and Benny Snell Jr. has 129 rushing yards. JuJu Smith-Schuster leads Pittsburgh in receiving with 17 catches for 160 yards and 3 touchdowns while Chase Claypool, Diontae Johnson and Eric Ebron all have 100+ receiving yards for the Steelers this season. Defensively, Mike Hilton leads the Steelers with 21 total tackles including 19 solo tackles and a pair of sacks while T.J. Watt has a team-high 3.5 sacks and 5.5 tackles for a loss and Bud Dupree has 2.5 sacks this season.
Philadelphia is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games against a team with a winning record while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 games as an underdog. Pittsburgh is 5-2 ATS in their last 7 home games and 4-9-1 ATS in their last 14 games as a favorite while the under is 8-3 in their last 11 games overall. The under is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings between these two teams.
The total’s been dropping heavily since the open, and to be honest, I’m not sure why. Pittsburgh’s boasting a solid defense but the Eagles’ offense can move the ball and guys like Zach Ertz and other workhorses have what it takes to move the ball down the field for Philly. On the other hand, that offense is pretty good in it’s own right, as Big Ben is clicking with the receivers and Benny Snell and James Conner can move the ball as well. I’ll side with the over as my free pick for this game, but my stronger play is on the side that wins this game and I have that available as a premium pick that you can find here.
