The Las Vegas Raiders face off with the Miami Dolphins in week 16 NFL action from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Saturday night.
The Miami Dolphins will try to keep their grips on the last wild card spot after improving to 9-5 on the year with a 22-12 win over New England last time out. Tua Tagovailoa has thrown for 1,359 yards, 9 touchdowns and 2 interceptions on 63.8% passing while Myles Gaskin leads the Dolphins in rushing with 477 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns. Matt Breida and Salvon Ahmed each have 250+ rushing yards as well for the Dolphins this year while DeVante Parker leads the Fins in receiving with 56 grabs on 89 targets for 677 yards and 4 scores. Mike Gesicki has 602 receiving yards with 6 touchdowns while Jakeen Grant has 330 receiving yards. Preston Wiliiams also has 288 receiving yards with 4 touchdowns while Gaskin and Isaiah Ford each have 200+ receiving yards for Miami this year. On defense, Jerome Baker leads the Dolphins with 98 total tackles including 62 solo tackles as well as 6 sacks while Shaq Lawson has 4 sacks and Kyle Van Noy has 6 sacks of his own. Xavien Howard also has a whopping 9 interceptions for the Miami defense this season.
The Las Vegas Raiders will try to keep their slim playoff hopes alive after falling to 7-7 with a 30-27 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers in overtime last time out. Derek Carr has thrown for 3,396 yards, 24 touchdowns and 7 interceptions on 68.1% passing while Josh Jacobs leads the Raiders in rushing with 907 rushing yards with 10 touchdowns and Devontae Booker has 396 rushing yards and 3 scores. Darren Waller leads Las Vegas’ receiving group with 93 catches for 129 yards and 8 touchdowns while Nelson Agholor has 42 catches for 684 yards and 7 scores and Hunter Renfrow has 48 receptions for 598 yards this season. On defense, Nick Kwiatkoski leads the Raiders with 81 total tackles including 53 solo tackles while Johnathan Abram has 77 total tackles including a team-high 55 solo tackles. Maxx Crosby has a team-high 6 sacks while Jeff Heath leads the way with 3 interceptions.
Miami is 20-6 ATS in their last 26 games overall and 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games following a win while the under is 6-2 in their last 8 games as a road favorite. Las Vegas is 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games overall and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 home games while the over is 7-0-1 in their last 8 games as a home underdog. Miami is 5-0-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings between these two teams.
Both of these teams need a win as Las Vegas’ slimmest of slim playoff hopes rest on winning out and both Baltimore and Miami losing out to get in. The issue for me is that Miami knows they’ve got Baltimore hot on their trails and with so much at stake, I think the last team I’d want to face is a Miami team that’s 11-3 ATS this season laying less than a field goal even on the road. I think last week’s loss to the Chargers cooked Vegas’ goose, and if you lose to a horribly-coached Chargers team, I’ve got no faith in you against Miami. Give me the Dolphins and lay the points.
