The Dallas Cowboy face off with the Philadelphia Eagles Sunday in Week 16 NFC East NFL action from AT&T Stadium in Arlington.
The Eagles enter this one at 4-9-1 so far. Philadelphia took out the Saints on December 13 but fell to the Cardinals by seven in Week 15. As for the Cowboys, they’re 5-9 so far. Dallas has won consecutive games versus the Bengals and 49ers in their last two outings. Check back all season long for free NFL picks at Sports Chat Place.
Philadelphia hasn’t been able to find any consistency this season, but the good news is that they’re not getting routinely blown out. Over their last six games, the Eagles are 1-5. The lone win came over the Saints, and otherwise Philly has lost to the Giants 27-17, the Browns 22-17, the Seahawks 23-17, the Packers 30-16 and the Cardinals 33-26.
In the loss to Arizona, Philadelphia quarterback Jalen Hurts posted 338 yards with three touchdowns and a 24-of-44 line. Miles Sanders rushed 17 times for 64 yards, and Zach Ertz managed two catches for 69 yards to top the receivers.
Over on the Dallas side, it’s been an injury-plagued, disappointing season so far, but strangely enough they’re still in the hunt for the division title. Over the last five games the Cowboys are 3-2, falling to Washington and Baltimore while otherwise beating the Vikings 31-28, the Bengals 30-7 and the 49ers 41-33.
In the win over San Francisco, Dallas quarterback Andy Dalton posted 209 yards with two touchdowns. CeeDee Lamb caught five balls for 85 yards to lead the receiving attack, and Tony Pollard managed 69 yards and two scores on 12 carries.
The Eagles are 5-1 ATS in their last six after an ATS loss and 5-2 ATS in their last seven on the road versus a team with a losing home record. Philly is 3-8 ATS in their last 11 after a straight-up loss and 0-5 ATS in their last five road games.
Meanwhile, the Cowboys are 4-10 ATS in their last 14 overall and 1-4 ATS in their last five after a straight-up win. Dallas is 2-8 ATS in their last 10 versus the NFC and 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games in Week 16.
PICK: I’m sticking with Dallas here. It’ll probably be tight, though. A matchup between teams with nine combined wins doesn’t sound all that intriguing, but this one is shaping up to be a pretty competitive—and important—game in the NFC East. Dallas’ offense has gotten going well in their last two, posting 71 points combined in that pair. Philly has scored pretty well in their last two as well, with 50 combined points. The Cowboys need this game to keep pace with Washington in the division, and though it should be close the whole way I like Dallas on a cover/win.
