The New England Patriots and Buffalo Bills meet Friday afternoon in a Madden20 NFL simulation game.

The New England Patriots have three players ranked in the 90s in cornerback Stephon Gilmore, quarterback Tom Brady and safety Devin McCourty. This day is obviously all about Brady with the Patriots hosting four simulation games, and he brings a 95 awareness rating to the table with a 70 agility rating. However, when you thitem in linebacker Dont’a Hightower and his 88 overall rating, the Pats rely heavily on their defense in this game with three of their top-four ranked players being on that side of the ball. Offensively, wide receiver Julian Edelman has a solid 91 acceleration rating and 87 overall rating, while the offensive line has three players with an 84 overall rating or above. The New England Patriots are short on offensive weapons, but they have an effective defense and a quarterback who doesn’t get fooled often and takes care of the football.

The Buffalo Bills rely on their defense in this video game, as it’s the side of the ball where their top-four ranked players are. Micah Hyde, Tre-Davious White, Jordan Poyer and Lorenzo Alexander are the Bills top ranked players with overall ratings of at least 83 overall. The Bills offense is led by a pair of receivers who are ranked 83 overall in Cole Beasley and John Bitemn and they also have high awareness ratings as well which is key in these simulations. For quarterback, Josh Allen is rated 77 overall and has a speed rating of 84 and a 87 acceleration rating. Allen isn’t the most aware quarterback in the world and can struggle with accuracy, but he moves the pocket well and can make plays with his feet. The Bills aren’t the sexiest team in the world, but they get after it defensively and can do just enough offensively to cash a winning bet.

The New England Patriots are the better team here in most spots and that makes them considerable favorites, but they also have a defense that’s not all that good and can allow opposing teams to hang around. The Buffalo Bills have a limited offense, but they’re solid defensively and can grind games out and pull off a few upsets. In a division game and with a cap Bills squad, this feels like too many points to leave on the table.

Give me the Bills and the free touchdown.
