The Green Bay Packers and Oakland Raiders meet Wednesday afternoon in a Madden20 NFL simulation game.

The Green Bay Packers have three players ranked 90 or better overall in left tackle David Bakhtiari, wide receiver Davante Adams and defensive tackle Kenny Clark. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers comes in with an 89 rating overall, a 82 rating in acceleration and a 91 awareness rating. Of course, a lot of the Packers success comes down to quarterback play and as long as he takes care of the ball, they’ll give you a chance to win no matter who they play. The problem is the Packers have limited weapons outside of quarterback, so scoring can be limited at times and the ground game has been weak in past simulations. However, the Green Bay Packers have eight players with an awareness rating of at least 90, which is important in a computer simulation where you’re counting on guys to do their job correctly.

The Oakland Raiders aren’t all that fun to play with in this game, as their highest rated player is their center in Rodney Hudson, who is a 93 overall rating with a 90 strength rating. Richie Incognito and Trent Bitemn are the Raiders next highest rated players, which makes for a strong offensive line but really thin on the difference makers. Running back Josh Jacobs is rated 85 overall with a 91 acceleration rating while tight end Darren Waller is rated 85 overall with an 89 speed rating. Quarterback Derek Carr is rated 80 overall with an 87 acceleration rating and Tyrell Williams is his top ranked receiver with an 82 overall rating and 95 agility rating. The Oakland Raiders have one of the better offensive lines in the game, but the defense can get gashed and the offense can struggle to produce the big play that really opens the game up.

I’m not thrilled about laying chalk with the Green Bay Packers because they can be shaky at best on the defensive side, but they’re going up against an Oakland Raiders club that doesn’t have much going for them on either side of the ball. The Raiders are limited defensively outside of running back, and their defense gets gashed in these simulations more times than not.

I’ll lay the chalk with the Packers as more of a fade from the Raiders more than anything else.
