The Denver Broncos meet the Los Angeles Rams Saturday in week 3 NFL preseason action at Empower Field at Mile High. The Los Angeles Rams look for their first preseason win after an 0-2 start. The Denver Broncos look for another win to finish the preseason with a 3-0 record.
The Los Angeles Rams are coming off losses to the Chargers and Raiders. In the losing effort, the Rams produced 331 total yards and allowed 229 total yards. Bryce Perkins led Los Angeles with 208 passing yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Jake Funk led the Rams with 56 rushing yards on seven carries while JJ Koski and Landen Akers combined for 110 receiving yards on 13 catches. Defensively, Ernest Jones led the Rams with six tackles, Chris Garrett had 1.5 sacks and Brontae Harris had one interception. The Rams have been competitive through two games, especially on the defensive side, but we’re not going to know the true potential until all the starters play. We still have not seen Matthew Stafford in a Rams uniform.
The Denver Broncos are coming off wins over the Vikings and Seahawks. In the victory, the Broncos produced 264 total yards and allowed 250 total yards. Teddy Bridgewater led Denver with 105 passing yards and one touchdown while Drew Lock and Brett Rypien combined for 111 passing yards and one touchdown. Royce Freeman led the Broncos with 27 rushing yards on nine carries while Jerry Jeudy and Seth Williams combined for 73 receiving yards on three catches. Defensively, Parnell Motley led the Broncos with six tackles, Jonathon Cooper had two sacks and DeShawn Williams had one interception. The Broncos have outscored their opponents 63-9 in the first two games. There’s a strong argument to be made that the Broncos have been the most dominant team through two preseason games.
The Rams are 7-3-1 ATS in their last 11 games on grass. The Broncos are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 Saturday games and 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games as a favorite. The under is 11-4 in Rams last 15 games overall. The over is 4-1 in Broncos last 5 Saturday games. The home team is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 meetings.
The Rams haven’t looked good through two preseason games and you shouldn’t expect a turnaround here with starters expected to sit out. The Broncos have been dominant in their preseason contests and they should obviously be favored. However, this is an insane preseason line and not something you see often. We’re getting more than a touchdown in a glorified scrimmage that are usually toss up games. There’s no way I’m leaving this many points on the table with the Rams.
