The Los Angeles Chargers meet the Dallas Cowboys Sunday in week 2 NFL action at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. The Dallas Cowboys need a win after a heartbreaking loss to the Buccaneers in their opener. The Los Angeles Chargers look for another win after beating the Washington Football Team in their first game.
The Dallas Cowboys hope to avoid their first 0-2 start since the 2010 NFL season. Dak Prescott is completing 72.4 percent of his passes for 403 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. Amari Cooper and CeeDee Lamb have combined for 243 receiving yards and three touchdowns while Dalton Schultz has six receptions. The Dallas Cowboys ground game is averaging 60 yards per contest, and Ezekiel Elliott leads the way with 33 yards on 11 carries. Defensively, Dallas is allowing 31 points and 431 yards per game. Jayron Kearse leads the Dallas Cowboys with 11 tackles, Jourdan Lewis has one interception and Trevon Diggs has one interception.
The Los Angeles Chargers look for their first 2-0 start since the 2012 NFL season. Justin Herbert is completing 66 percent of his passes for 337 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Keenan Allen and Mike Williams have combined for 182 receiving yards and one touchdown while Jared Cook has five receptions. The Los Angeles Chargers ground game is averaging 90 yards per contest, and Austin Ekeler leads the way with 57 yards and one touchdown. Defensively, Los Angeles is allowing 16 points and 259 yards per game. Kenneth Murray Jr. leads the Los Angeles Chargers with 10 tackles, Joey Bosa has one sack and Derwin James Jr. has one pass deflection.
The Cowboys are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 road games and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Chargers are 16-36-1 ATS in their last 53 home games and 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The over is 6-2 in Cowboys last 8 games overall. The under is 5-2 in Chargers last 7 games overall. The Cowboys are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 meetings.
This line may be the most surprising of any in week 2, as I’m just not sold on the Chargers being a good team. Fun and high scoring, sure, but the Chargers have a history of having issues finishing games and they weren’t all that convincing against a team that lost its starting quarterback. The Dallas Cowboys looked good against the Bucs and you could argue they should have won. Also, the Cowboys have had extra time to prepare for this contest after playing last Thursday. To me, it feels like the wrong team is favored. Give me the Cowboys and the free field goal.
