The Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears meet Sunday afternoon at Soldier Field in week 4 NFL contest. The Detroit Lions need a win here to prevent their first 0-4 start since the 2015 NFL season. The Chicago Bears need a win here to get back to a .500 record.

The Detroit Lions have lost four of their last five road games. Jared Goff is completing 69.9 percent of his passes for 801 yards, five touchdowns and two interceptions. TJ Hockenson and D’Andre Swift have combined for 339 receiving yards and three touchdowns while Kalif Raymond has 11 receptions. The Detroit Lions ground game is averaging 105.7 yards per contest, and Swift leads the way with 123 yards and one touchdown. Defensively, Detroit is allowing 31.7 points and 384 yards per game. Will Harris leads the Detroit Lions with 20 tackles, Charles Harris has two sacks and Amani Oruwariye has one interception.

The Chicago Bears have lost four of their last six home games. Andy Dalton is completing 73.5 percent of his passes for 262 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Darnell Mooney and Allen Robinson II have combined for 187 receiving yards and one touchdown while Marquise Goodwin has five receptions. The Chicago Bears ground game is averaging 101 yards per contest, and David Montgomery leads the way with 203 yards and one touchdown. Defensively, Chicago is allowing 25.7 points and 350.7 yards per game. Roquan Smith leads the Chicago Bears with 29 tackles, Robert Quinn has four sacks and Angelo Blackson has one interception.

The Lions are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games and 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games in Week 4. The Bears are 4-11 ATS in their last 15 games as a favorite and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The over is 9-4 in Lions last 13 games overall. The over is 5-2 in Bears last 7 games overall. The Lions are 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 meetings in Chicago.

I’m not thrilled to back either of these teams, but there’s no way in hell I’m backing the Bears in the favorite role. The Bears are 32nd in both total offense and passing yards, and they’re 31st in scoring offense. The Bears also allowed their rookie quarterback to get sacked a million times last week. The Lions aren’t good, but they compete, as they took the 49ers down to the wire, competed with the Packers for three quarters and were a ridiculous field goal away from beating the Ravens. Winless or not, the Lions have been more impressive up to this point. Give me the points.
