The Detroit Lions and Cincinnati Bengals meet in a week 6 NFL contest from Ford Field in Detroit on Sunday afternoon.

The Cincinnati Bengals will look to bounce back from ending up on the wrong end of a 25-22 overtime loss at the hands of the Packers in their last game. Joe Burrow has thrown for 1,269 yards, 11 touchdowns and 6 picks on 71.7% passing while Joe Mixon’s rushed for a team-high 386 yards and 3 touchdowns. Ja’Marr Chase leads the Bengals’ receiving group with 456 receiving yards and 5 touchdowns while Tyler Boyd’s got a team-high 27 catches for 283 yards. C.J. Uzomah and Tee Higgins each have 150 yards and a pair of receiving touchdowns as well this season. On defense, Logan Wilson leads the Bengals with 47 total tackles while Trey Hendrickson has a team-high 4.5 sacks and B.J. Hill has 3 sacks this season.

The Detroit Lions will try to find their first win of the year after a 19-17 loss to Minnesota last time out. Jared Goff has thrown for 1,303 yards, 7 touchdowns and 3 interceptions on 66.8% passing while Jamaal Williams and D’Andre Swift have combined for 434 rushing yards and a pair of rushing touchdowns each. Swift leads the Lions with 2 grabs for 252 yards, while T.J. Hockenson and Quintez Cephus each have 200+ receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. Three other Lions have at least 100 receiving yards as well this season. On defense, Alex Anzalone has a team-high 26 total tackles while Charles Harris has a team-high 3 sacks this season.

Cincinnati is 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games as a road favorite and 10-3 ATS in their last 13 games following a loss while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 games overall. Detroit is 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games against a team with a winning record and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 games in October.

I get the case that could be made both ways here, and while that loss for the Bengals to Green Bay has to do some damage to their psyche, they’re simply the better team here and have more going for them than Detroit does. The Lions feel like they’re getting closer like the loss to the Baltimore Ravens, but at the end of the day this is a patchwork defense that’s basically being held together by tape and hoping it doesn’t break. Cincinnati’s got solid pieces and they’re just not getting the breaks, the Bengals just have to hope that this throat issue with Joe Burrow isn’t serious. It’s worth monitoring throughout the week, but for now, I’m laying the points with Cincinnati here.
