The Kansas City Chiefs and Las Vegas Raiders clash Sunday afternoon in a week 14 AFC West NFL showdown from Arrowhead Stadium. Las Vegas is just 1-4 over their last five games and coming off a close loss to Washington. As for the Chiefs, they’ve won five straight games. KC took out the Broncos in their last outing. Las Vegas started out well at 3-0 before losses to the Chargers and Bears. Two more victories over Denver and Philadelphia came next, then a 1-4 run. The losses in that stretch have been to the Giants, Chiefs, Bengals and Washington.
In the loss to the Team last weekend, Las Vegas was within one point heading into the fourth quarter. The Raiders were outscored from there in a 17-15 loss. QB Derek Carr put up 249 yards, and Josh Jacobs rushed for 52 yards and a score on 13 carries.
Over on the Chiefs’ side, they started out the season at a spotty 3-4 with losses to the Ravens, Chargers, Bills and Titans. Kansas City has since won their last five, taking out the Giants, Packers, Raiders, Cowboys and Broncos in that stretch.
Back on Sunday against Denver, Kansas City scored in three of the four quarters during an eventual 22-9 win. QB Patrick Mahomes managed just 184 yards and a pick, but also had a rush TD. Darrel Williams caught three balls for 60 yards to pace the receivers.
The Raiders are 1-4 ATS in their last five overall and 1-4 ATS in their last five versus the AFC. Las Vegas is 1-4 ATS in their last five versus the AFC West and 2-5 ATS in their last seven on grass.
Meanwhile, the Chiefs are 21-10-1 ATS in their last 32 versus the AFC West and 7-16 ATS in their last 23 overall. KC is 3-10 ATS in their last 13 versus the AFC.
PICK: I’m probably sticking with Kansas City here. The last time these teams met up at Allegiant Stadium back on November 14, the Chiefs scored double-digit points in the final three quarters on the way to a 41-14 blowout win. KC notched 516 yards of offense with 29 first downs and just four penalties.
This one probably won’t be quite the blowout, as the Chiefs have put up 22 points or fewer in five of their last six games. Still, Kansas City should have more than enough firepower to pull out a cover in this one.
