The Chicago Bears and New York Giants square off Sunday in a NFL week 17 matchup from Soldier Field. New York is currently 4-11 this year. The Giants lost to the Eagles in their last game. As for the Bears, they’re 5-10 and coming off a tight win over the Seahawks. Check back all season long for free NFL picks at Sports Chat Place.
New York went just 2-5 over their first seven games, notching wins over the Saints and Panthers. Since then it’s been a 2-6 run for the Giants, with losses to the Chiefs, Bucs, Dolphins, Chargers, Cowboys and Eagles.
In the Eagles matchup back on Sunday, the Giants gave up 17 unanswered points in the third quarter on the way to a 34-10 blowout loss. QB Mike Glennon put up 93 yards with a TD and a pick. Saquon Barkley rushed 15 times for 32 yards.
Over on the Bears’ side, they went 3-4 over their first seven outings this year. The Bears hit a 1-3 stretch in their next four games (with a win over the Lions), then another 1-3 stretch with a victory over the Seahawks.
In Sunday’s matchup versus the Seahawks, the Bears were down 17-10 heading into the break. Chicago scored 18 points from there in a 25-24 thriller victory. QB Nick Foles finished on 250 yards and a score, while David Montgomery caught seven balls for 61 yards.
The Giants are 6-2 ATS in their last eight games in January and 19-7 ATS in their last 26 games on grass. New York is 2-5 ATS in their last seven versus the NFC.
Meanwhile, the Bears are 1-4 ATS in their last five after an ATS win and 3-13 ATS in their last 16 versus the NFC. Chicago is 1-5 ATS in their last six overall.
PICK: I’m going to take a stab on Chicago, so long as the line doesn’t inflate too much from here. The Bears did some good things against the Seahawks on Sunday, collecting 317 total yards, 26 first downs and a 7-of-14 mark on third-down tries. Chicago controlled the ball well with zero turnovers.
As for the Giants, it was another bad offensive outing against the Eagles in their last game. New York put up just 192 total yards with a pair of picks. I don’t expect New York to look as bad here but Chicago still seems better for a cover.
