The Indianapolis Colts and Kansas City Chiefs clash Sunday in week 3 NFL action from Lucas Oil Stadium. Kansas City is 2-0 so far this year and coming off a close win over the Chargers. As for the Colts, they’re 0-1-1 on the young season, falling to the Jaguars in their last game. Check back all season long for free NFL picks at Sports Chat Place.

Kansas City had a solid opening game to kick off the 2022 season, beating the Cardinals 44-21 and scoring in every quarter along the way. QB Patrick Mahomes threw for 360 yards and five touchdowns, while Isiah Pacheco led the rush on 62 yards and a score.

In game two the Chiefs played a much tighter game but the outcome was still the same. Kansas City scored 13 points in the fourth quarter versus the Chargers to pull out the 27-24 win. Mahomes managed 235 yards and two scores on 24-of-35 passing in that one.

Over on the Colts’ side, they kicked off the year against the Texans in a wild game. Indianapolis came back from a 20-3 fourth-quarter deficit and eventually earned the tie. Quarterback Matt Ryan posted 352 yards with one touchdown and one interception on 32-of-50 passing.

Game two didn’t go very well for the Colts. They took on their division rival Jaguars and were down 17-0 at the half in an eventual 24-0 blowout loss. Ryan threw for 195 yards and three picks in the loss, and Jonathan Taylor led the rush with 54 yards on nine carries.

The Chiefs are 10-2 ATS in their last 12 in week three and 9-4 ATS in their last 13 overall. KC is 2-7 ATS versus a team with a  losing record.

Meanwhile, the Colts are 5-1 ATS in their last six in week three and 4-1 ATS in the last five after a straight up loss. Indianapolis is 0-4 ATS in the last four overall.

PICK: I’m probably staying with the Chiefs here. Kansas City was fortunate to get the win over the Chargers; the team gave up 401 total yards to LA along with 5.4 yards per play and 21 first downs. The Chiefs were a sketchy 4-of-12 on third-down tries and produced just 15 first downs, but still got the win. There’s room for improvement but overall the offense hasn’t been too bad so far.

As for the Colts, they’ve got a lot of work to do after that ugly shutout loss at the hands of the Jaguars. Indianapolis produced just 218 total yards, nine first downs and a 2-of-10 run on third downs. I’d imagine the Colts will look better here but it’s probably the Chiefs’ cover to take.
