2023 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Odds: Favorites, Sleepers, and Best Bet
2023-09-06 20:15:00 EDT
The 2023 NFL Draft produced plenty of talent and a lot of offensive playmakers. Multiple quarterbacks and running backs are candidates to win the 2023 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Award. Running backs won the award from 2013 to 2018, while quarterbacks and wide receivers were on top since, including the most recent – WR Garrett Wilson. A tight end or offensive lineman never won OROY, so let’s have a look at the 2023 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Odds: Favorites, Sleepers, and Best Bet.

2023 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Favorites
Bryce Young, QB, Carolina Panthers (+450)
The No. 1 overall pick has some solid wideouts to connect with after the Panthers added Adam Thielen and D.J. Chark in free agency. In combination with an improved offensive line, Young will have a chance to post good numbers in the weakest division in football. Young will shine in Frank Reich’s system despite not having a super-strong arm and blazing speed.
Young, who won the Heisman Trophy in 202, spent the previous three years with the Alabama Crimson Tide. In the past two as a starter, Young recorded 8,200 passing yards for 79 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. He has an excellent setting in Carolina to win the 2023 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Award and become the third QB in the last five years to do it.
C.J. Stroud, QB, Houston Texans (+900)
It looks like the Texans are ready to move a step forward after two years of stagnancy, but they still don’t have a top receiving corps. Still, C.J. Stroud has the quality to make guys around him better, so I expect him to blend well with Robert Woods, Nico Collins, John Metchie III, and Dalton Schultz.
Stroud’s success in his first year as a starting signal-caller in the NFL will depend on his offensive line. When in the pocket, C.J. can be a monster, and I am sure he will post some fantastic performances along the way. In the last two years at Ohio State, Stroud had 8,123 passing yards with 85 touchdowns and 12 picks. That’s why he was the second overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Anthony Richardson, QB, Indianapolis Colts (+900)
Another quarterback on the 2023 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Favorites list perhaps wasn’t as prolific as Young and Stroud when it comes to passing. However, Anthony Richardson is the best athlete of all three; in 22 games at Florida, he had 1,116 rushing yards on 161 carries – 6.9 yards per.
The Colts signed Gardner Minshew in the offseason, and he is listed as a No. 1 QB on the depth chart. But Richardson will get his chance sooner than later, and I am backing him to take it and cement his starting gig. Indianapolis has an underwhelming group of receivers, which is a great opportunity for Richardson to show his double-threat potential and make some waves in 2023.
Jahmyr Gibbs, RB, Detroit Lions, (+1100)
My only non-quarterback on this 2023 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Favorites list is running back Jahmyr Gibbs. Although he has strong competition in David Montgomery, and they will share RB duties at first, Gibbs will likely take over as the feature back after the opening two months of the season. He has three Pro Bowl offensive linemen to create holes, which can be lethal in a combo with his explosiveness.
In his first year at Alabama and his last in college (played two years at Georgia Tech), Gibbs registered 926 rushing yards and seven touchdowns. He ran for 6.1 yards on average and added 444 receiving yards with three touchdowns. I can’t wait to see Gibbs in one of the most exciting teams in the NFL.

2023 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Sleepers
Quentin Johnston, WR, Los Angeles Chargers (+2500)
Johnston probably has the fiercest competition of all players on this list. However, I believe he can win the 2023 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Award because he plays in one of the best offenses in the league. With Justin Herbert under the center, Johnston could shine and go toe-to-toe with Keenan Allen and Mike Williams.
Quentin reminds me of A.J. Brown and is a YAC weapon. Last year at TCU, he caught 60 passes for 1,069 yards and six touchdowns. Thanks to his 6-foot-2 plus, 200-pound plus frame, Johnston has the ability to keep his balance through contact and then explode for solid yards after the catch. With Herbert expected to throw for 4,000+ yards this year, I can see Johnston in the conversation for OROY.
Zay Flowers, WR, Baltimore Ravens (+3000)
Even though the Ravens will run the ball often, their receiving corps improved with the addition of Odell Beckham Jr. and Zay Flowers. That said, Baltimore could be successful in the air, and Flowers can be a big part of the passing game.
Flowers is not tall enough (5-foot-10), but his strong hands, sharp route running, and fast feet can help him beat taller defenders. In his final year at Boston College, Flowers had 78 catches for 1,077 yards and 12 touchdowns.
2023 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Best Bet
Bijan Robinson, RB, Atlanta Falcons (+300)
Just like Bryce Young, Robinson will play in the weakest division in the league, which increases his chance of winning the 2023 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Award. The Falcons selected Bijan Robinson in the first round to serve as their No. 1 running back, despite having the likes of Tyler Allgeier and Cordarrelle Patterson on the roster.
After rushing the ball for a league-high 559 times last season, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Falcons have 600+ rushing attempts in 2023. They were 3rd in the NFL with 159.9 rushing yards per game, and I think the Falcons will remain in the top 3 this time out. Bijan Robinson is a strong tackle-breaker and a solid pass-catcher who can unlock any defense. He exploded last year at Texas for 1,580 yards and 18 touchdowns on 280 carries. Robinson forced 104 missed tackles along the way, and he is my 2023 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Best Bet.
