The Jets didn’t look too bad over their first couple of games, especially when you consider their struggles over the last several years. Game one was a 23-10 road win over the Tennessee Titans, as New York scored points in every quarter. Game two was the Jets’ first loss. New York was outscored 10-3 in the final quarter and ended up falling 20-17 at home in overtime.
Last weekend versus the Lions, the Jets were able to hang in there and entered the fourth quarter with a 17-10 deficit. New York scored a couple of touchdowns from there but it wasn’t enough in a 31-24 loss. QB Geno Smith had a 31-of-37 line for 321 yards and three scores. Garrett Wilson had 10 catches for 107 yards and a TD in the losing effort.
Chicago Bears Betting Preview
Over on the Bears’ side, they had mixed results in their first couple of games. Chicago was a scoring machine in the opener on the road versus the Panthers, bagging 14 points in three different quarters (and 17 in the other) during a 59-37 win. As for game two, the Bears could only muster a field goal in a defensive battle versus the Vikings, falling at home 9-3.
Matched up against the Eagles on Monday, the Bears were only up by a field goal 10-7 by the end of the first half. Chicago followed that up with 17 more points, scoring in every quarter during a 27-7 victory at home. QB Case Keenum was 24-of-34 for 247 yards and two touchdowns. D’Andre Swift led the rush with 20 carries for 84 yards in the winning effort.

Bears vs Jets Prediction
I’ll stick with the Bears. Chicago looked very good at home against the Eagles last weekend, posting 375 yards, 5.4 yards per play, 24 first downs and zero turnovers. If there’s a gripe, it’s the 5-of-13 on third downs. The defense came up with three takeaways while allowing just 248 yards, 14 first downs and 2-of-9 on third-down tries. The Bears look like a playoff team at this point, but we’ll see how it goes.
As for the Jets, they put together a valiant effort on the road against the Lions but fell just short. New York’s offense generated 335 total yards, 5.5 yards per play, 22 first downs and 6-of-12 on third-down tries, which is pretty darn good for a Jets offense lately. The defense held the Lions to 381 yards with 24 first downs and 6.0 yards per play along with no takeaways. New York is looking better these days but I don’t think they’re quite up to the task this week.
