Cleveland Browns vs New York Giants 8/22/21 NFL Picks, Odds, Predictions

The Cleveland Browns battle the New York Giants in week 2 NFL preseason action at FirstEnergy Stadium in Cleveland on Sunday.

The New York Giants will look to bounce back from a 12-7 loss at the hands of stadium-sharing rivals the New York Jets in their preseason opener. Clayton Thorson threw for 72 yards on 5 of 16 passing with a touchdown while Mike Glennon tossed for 20 yards on 3 of 7 passing. Sandro Platzgummer rushed for a team-high 51 yards on 4 carries while Corey Clement added a team-high 5 carries for 32 yards. David Sills caught a team-high 3 passes for 49 yards while Damion Willis had his lone grab go for 21 yards and a score and Rysen John had 3 catches as well. Defensively, Rodarius Williams and Madre Harper each had a team-high 8 total tackles, 6 solo, while Carter Coughlin had the Giants’ lone sack in the losing effort.

The Cleveland Browns will look to build off of their 23-13 win over Jacksonville in their preseason opener last time out. Kyle Lauletta threw for 212 yards and 2 touchdowns on 19 of 27 passing while Case Keenum threw for 115 yards on 12 of 17 passing. Corey Taylor led the Browns’ backfield with 6 carries for 17 yards while Davion Davis led the receivers with 4 catches for 56 yards and a touchdown. John Kelly and Demetric Felton each had 4 catches for 44 yards while Ryan Switzer had a touchdown grab as well for Cleveland in the win. Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah had a team-high 8 total tackles including 7 solo tackles and a sack while Sheldon Day, Richard LeCounte III and Porter Gustin each had a sack as well with LeCounte III chipping in the Browns’ lone interception on the defensive end as well.

New York is 19-7 ATS in their last 26 road games and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games as an underdog while the under is 13-3 in their last 16 games overall. Cleveland is 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games as a favorite and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games while the over is 5-1 in their last 6 games on grass.

Well, the Giants have some nice pieces once the regular season gets started, but I didn’t like the way the Giants reserves looked in their opener against the Jets of all teams. Cleveland looked solid across the board and I think the Browns go 2 for 2 with a win and cover over the Giants here.
