Cowboys vs Commanders Prediction 9/20/26 NFL Picks Today

The Washington Commanders and the Dallas Cowboys meet Sunday in NFL action from AT&T Stadium in Arlington. Here’s a Cowboys vs Commanders prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Cowboys vs Commanders pick.

Washington Commanders Betting Preview

The Commanders had another tough season in 2025. Washington got off to a reasonably promising 3-2 start, but then hit an eight-game losing streak to fall to 3-10. The Commanders would eventually finish 5-12 overall for a third-place finish in the NFC East. Washington became the first NFL team since the 2002 Arizona Cardinals to lose four consecutive games by at least 21 points.

In their opener versus the Philadelphia Eagles, the Commanders went into the locker room at halftime with a 14-9 deficit. Washington finished off the fourth quarter on a 13-7 advantage but it wasn’t enough in a 24-22 loss. QB Jayden Daniels was 18-of-34 for 164 yards and two touchdowns, while Jacory Croskey-Merritt carried 16 times for 63 yards and a score.

Dallas Cowboys Betting Preview

Over on the Dallas side, they didn’t have a great 2025 campaign either. The Cowboys posted their second consecutive losing season at 7-9-1 overall, as well as their second consecutive missed playoffs. Though Dallas finished second in the NFC East it was still a rough run, as the team fell in four of their final five games (with a lone win over Washington) to finish things off.

Matched up against the New York Giants on Sunday night, the Cowboys were down 14-7 as the third quarter began. Dallas gave up a single touchdown in each quarter, resulting in a 28-20 defeat in the end. QB Dak Prescott was 22-of-34 for 175 yards, two touchdowns and one pick. Javonte Williams rushed 12 times for 41 yards and a touchdown for the Cowboys in the defeat.

Cowboys vs Commanders Prediction

I’ll take a stab on Washington but this one seems a coin flip. The Commanders didn’t look too bad against the Eagles last weekend despite notching just 163 passing yards and going only 5-of-15 on third-down tries. Washington’s defense gave up 318 yards (182 passing) with only 10 first downs and 6-of-14 on third-down conversions. It wasn’t a terrible showing for a road opener against a good division rival, but still a loss.

As for the Cowboys, they could only muster 244 total yards (69 rushing) in their loss to New York but did manage 21 first downs and a very nice 8-of-11 success rate on third downs. Trouble is, the defense game up 29 first downs and 9-of-11 on third downs on the other side. It was a flag-heavy game, with Dallas posting nine of the 19 overall penalties for 90 yards. There’s plenty to clean up ahead of another divisional matchup this weekend.
