In this article we will formulate a Falcons vs Panthers prediction for this NFL game on Sunday, September 20th at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. Let’s take a look at the prediction for this week 2 matchup.

Atlanta Falcons Betting Preview

The Atlanta Falcons are 0-1 this season after they lost to the Steelers by a score of 20-13 last week. Atlanta trailed 13-7 at halftime and they cut the deficit to 20-13 with 10 minutes left, but couldn’t find anymore points for the loss. The Falcons were out gained by a total of 264-238, went 2-12 on third downs, and lost the turnover battle by a total of 2-1 in the game. Cooper Rush threw for 143 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions, while Bijan Robinson caught eight passes for 90 yards and one score. Robinson also led the ground game with 21 carries for 83 yards in the loss.

The Falcons went 8-9 last season and they finished tied for first in the NFC South, but they lost the tiebreaker to the Panthers. Atlanta started the season with a 3-2 record, but they lost seven of their next eight games, before winning four straight to end the year. The Falcons played much better in the second half of the season, but they did allow 24+ points in eight of their last eleven games. Atlanta scored 20.8 points per game in 2025, while they allowed 23.6 points against per game on defense.

Carolina Panthers Betting Preview

The Carolina Panthers are 0-1 this year after they lost to the Bears by a score of 59-37 in week one. Carolina trailed 31-24 at halftime, but they did tie the game at 31 in the third, before allowing 28 of the last 34 points in the ugly loss. The Panthers were out gained by a total of 552-478, went 4-9 on third downs, and lost the turnover battle by a total of 3-1 in the game. Bryce Young threw for 361 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception, while Jalen Coker caught eight passes for 138 yards and two touchdowns. The Panthers went 8-9 last year and they finished first in the NFC South standings, as they won the tiebreaker with the Bucs and Falcons. Carolina started the season with a 1-3 record, but they won four of their next five games to start 5-4. The Panthers didn’t win two games in a row after October 19th and they lost three of their last four, but they made the playoffs, before losing to the Rams 34-31. Carolina wasn’t great offensively down the stretch, as they scored 21 points or fewer in 11 of their last 13 regular season games. The Panthers scored 18.3 points per game last year, while they allowed 22.4 points against per game on defense.

Falcons vs Panthers Prediction

Carolina comes into this matchup after scoring 37 points against the Bears last week, but they allowed 59 points in a blowout loss. The Panthers should be in better shape here and I expect a bounce back from their defense. Atlanta stayed close with the Steelers in their first game, but the offense didn’t do enough. The Falcons are most likely going to have Cooper Rush under center once again, but I don’t trust him to make enough big plays to consistently move the ball. Take the Panthers to win.
