In this article we will formulate a Jets vs Eagles prediction for this NFL game on Friday, August 22nd at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Let’s take a look at the prediction for this week three matchup in the preseason.
New York Jets Betting Preview
The New York Jets are 1-1 in the preseason after they lost to the Giants by a score of 31-12 last week. New York managed to kick two field goals in the first half and trailed 7-6 at halftime, but they allowed 17 points in the third quarter. The Jets did cut the deficit to 24-12 in the fourth, but allowed another score just a few minutes later for the loss. New York was out gained by a total of 478-333, went 8-17 on third down, and won the turnover battle by a total of 2-1. Adrian Martinez went 12-21 for 114 yards and one interception, Brady Cook went 6-11 for 74 yards and one touchdown, while Justin Fields went 1-5 for four yards in the game. Braelon Allen rushed for 34 yards on seven carries, while Quentin Skinner caught four passes for 48 yards and one touchdown. The New York defense was led by Dean Clark, who recorded six tackles in the game, while Clark and Jonathan both had one sack.
New York opened the preseason with a 30-10 win over Green Bay. The Jets out gained GB by a total of 403-188, went 8-15 on third down conversions, and won the turnover battle by a total of 2-0. New York is not expected to play Fields in this game, so we should see Martinez and Cook take most of the snaps under center.
Philadelphia Eagles Betting Preview
The Philadelphia Eagles are 1-1 in the preseason after they lost to Cleveland by a score of 22-13 last week. Philadelphia went scoreless in the first quarter, but they scored 13 points in the second quarter and led 13-12 at the half. The Eagles failed to score in the second half and they allowed 10 points for the loss. Philadelphia was out gained by a total of 331-88, went 4-12 on third down conversions, and won the turnover battle by a total of 2-1. Kyle McCord went 8-16 for 47 yards and one touchdown, while DTR went 5-8 for 17 yards and one interception. Montrell Johnson Jr. rushed six times for 20 yards, while Ainias Smith caught two passes for 19 yards and one score. The Eagles defense was led by Jeremiah Trotter Jr., who had seven total tackles, while Campbell, Ojulari, and Evans all had one sack.
Philadelphia opened the preseason with a 34-27 win over Cincinnati in their first game. The Eagles out gained Cincinnati by a total of 432-325, went 3-15 on third down conversions, and tied the turnover battle at one in the game. Philadelphia won’t play Hurts in this game and McKee is dealing with a minor injury, so we should see DTR and McCord once again here.
Jets vs Eagles Prediction
Both of these teams won their first game of the preseason, but they followed it up with a rough offensive showing in their second game. The Eagles are expected to use the same QB due that couldn’t even produce 100 total yards, so I am definitely concerned about them moving the ball. I don’t love Martinez and Cook for the Jets, but I can’t back this Eagles team with how they played last week. Take New York to win.
