New York Giants vs Atlanta Falcons 9/26/21 NFL Picks, Odds, Predictions

The New York Giants meet the Atlanta Falcons Sunday in Week 3 NFL action from MetLife Stadium in the Meadowlands. Atlanta is coming off a weekend matchup versus the Buccaneers. The Falcons fell by 23 points in that one to fall to 0-2 on the year. As for the Giants, they played Washington last Thursday, losing by just one point. Atlanta played the Eagles in their opening game this year and it didn’t go so well. The Falcons fell behind 15-6 at the half and didn’t score from there in a 32-6 blowout loss. QB Matt Ryan had just 164 yards, and Cordarrelle Patterson led the rush with 54 yards off seven totes.

Week two versus the Buccaneers didn’t go very well for the Falcons either. Atlanta was down 21-10 at halftime and coughed up 20 points in the fourth quarter in a 48-25 loss. Ryan had 300 yards with two scores and three picks there, while Kyle Pitts led the receivers on 73 yards.

Over on the Giants’ side, they lost to the Broncos in their opener, falling 27-13. Quarterback Daniel Jones finished with 267 yards and a TD on 22-of-37 passing in that one while also leading the rush with 27 yards and a score. Sterling Shepard caught seven balls for 113 yards and a score as well.

The Giants played Washington last Thursday and at least were competitive for the whole game. New York gave up 13 points in the fourth and lost 30-29, however. Jones had 249 yards with a score, and also rushed for 95 yards and a TD off nine carries.

The Falcons are 7-2 ATS versus a team with a losing record and 1-4 ATS in their last five as a road underdog. Atlanta is also 1-4 ATS in their last five road games.

Meanwhile, the Giants are 7-1 ATS in their last eight versus the NFC and 18-7-1 ATS versus a team with a losing record. New York is 5-2 ATS in their last seven in Week three and 7-18-1 ATS in their last 26 at home.

PICK: I suppose I’m taking the Giants here, but staying away. Neither of these teams has looked so great this year. New York gave up 407 yards of offense to Washington in their last game and only managed one sack. The Giants were also undisciplined with 11 penalties for 81 yards.

As for the Falcons, they got better on offense in week two but still amassed just 55 rush yards, 19 first downs and three picks. It was a step in the right direction but Atlanta still has a lot of work to do. This one’s something of a coin flip, but I like New York at home slightly better.
