The Washington Commanders and the New York Jets meet Sunday in NFL action from MetLife Stadium. Washington is sitting at 4-10 so far this year and coming off an eight-point loss to the Rams. As for the Jets, they fell in a blowout to the rival Dolphins in their last game and fell to 5-9 on the season. Let’s get into our Commanders vs. Jets prediction. Washington Commanders

The Commanders were only able to win four of their first nine games this year, beating the Cardinals, Broncos, Falcons and Patriots in that stretch. Washington has fallen in five straight games since then, and they’re averaging only 20.1 points per game. The Commanders are giving up 30.2 points per game on defense.

In their latest loss to the Rams, the Commanders were down 20-7 going into the final quarter. Washington posted 13 cosmetic points from there and took the loss 28-20. Jacoby Brissett threw for 124 yards with a pair of touchdowns. Chris Rodriguez led a weak rush on 35 yards, and Terry McLaurin had 141 yards and a TD on six catches.

New York Jets

Over on the Jets’ side, they’ve had a pretty miserable year as well. New York has lost six of their last seven games to the Chargers, Raiders, Bills, Falcons and Dolphins (twice). Much of the Jets’ issue stems from the offense, as they’re averaging just 14.4 points per game. The defense has been solid overall though, giving up 20.5 points per game on average.

The Jets took another embarrassing loss to the rival Dolphins on Sunday. New York was down 24-0 by halftime and ended up with a shutout 30-0. Trevor Siemian threw for 110 yards with a pair of picks, and Breece Hall added 12 yards rushing. Xavier Gipson put up two catches for 29 yards to lead the receivers.

ANDREW’S FREE COMMANDERS VS JETS PREDICTION

I’m staying with Washington. There’s very little to get excited about in this one though—even if you’re a fan of either team. The Commanders posted just 297 total yards (218 passing) and 14 first downs against the Rams in their latest loss. That makes 20 or fewer points in four straight games, and Washington probably won’t hit that threshold here either.

As for the Jets, they posted just 103 total yards and 11 first downs against the Dolphins while posting a whopping four turnovers. New York can’t seem to do anything right on offense this year; it’s been a mess since the Aaron Rodgers injury in week one. We’re probably looking at a low-scoring finish here, and I like the Commanders to bang out the cover in an ugly game. Probably also not touching this one, though.
