On paper, the Seahawks seem pretty middle of the road and this is a game that is key, even though it’s early in the season. Quarterback Geno Smith wasn’t as strong last year but hopes that he can take a step forward. Smith didn’t have a lot of protection in 2023 and that didn’t help matters much. The Seahawks tried to improve the offensive line in the draft, including selecting UConn guard Christian Haynes in the third round. Smith still has all kinds of weapons out wide including DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba.
On defense, the Seahawks were good last year and on paper, they should be even better this season. Leonard Williams agreed to an extension this offseason and also brought in Jonathan Hankins during free agency. In this game, they are facing a young quarterback, and they need to put pressure on him. If they can get in his head early, they could create some turnovers.
