Washington Commanders vs NY Giants Prediction 9/7/25 NFL Picks Today

The New York Giants and the Washington Commanders meet in week 1 NFL action from Northwest Stadium on Sunday. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s a New York Giants vs. Washington Commanders prediction.

New York Giants Team Preview

The New York Giants enter 2025 coming off a 3–14 season in 2024 that kept them out of the playoffs. Head coach Brian Daboll returns with coordinators Mike Kafka on offense and Shane Bowen on defense. The offseason brought major changes, headlined by the signings of quarterbacks Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston. New York also strengthened the secondary with free-agent additions Jevon Holland and Paulson Adebo and added defensive tackle Roy Robertson-Harris, while cornerback Adoree’ Jackson departed in free agency. In the 2025 NFL Draft, the Giants used the third overall pick on Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter and traded back into the first round to select Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart at No. 25 to give the Giants their eventual QB2 after the preseason, before rounding out the class on Day 2 and Day 3. With veteran help at quarterback, multiple defensive reinforcements, and continuity on the sideline, the Giants can only go up from here in 2025… Right?

Washington Commanders Team Preview

The Washington Commanders enter 2025 after a shocking 12-5 campaign – their best since 1991 – that culminated in an NFC Championship Game appearance, the franchise’s first since that same year. Under first-year head coach Dan Quinn, Washington put together a dramatic turnaround from a 4-13 record in 2023 as rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 draft, emerged as a cornerstone for the franchise going forward. Washington upset the top-seeded Detroit Lions in the playoffs before falling to the Philadelphia Eagles in the conference title game. This offseason, second-year general manager Adam Peters continued reshaping the roster on offense. The Commanders traded for All-Pro receiver Deebo Samuel and Pro Bowl left tackle Laremy Tunsil, also using their first-round pick on tackle Josh Conerly Jr. to strengthen the offensive line. They added veteran wideout Michael Gallup while parting with several receivers, including Dyami Brown and Jamison Crowder. Daniels returns as the starting quarterback, supported by power back Brian Robinson Jr., who rushed for nearly 800 yards last season, and veteran Austin Ekeler. Pro Bowl wideout Terry McLaurin remains a top target alongside Samuel. On defense, Washington lost long-time defensive tackle Jonathan Allen but added former first-round pick Javon Kinlaw to reinforce the interior. The team also replaced departed corner Benjamin St-Juste with veteran Jonathan Jones and second-round draft pick Trey Amos in the secondary. With upgrades on both sides of the ball and growing confidence in the quarterback position, Washington hopes that the 2024 season was a sign of things to come and not a flash in the pan.

New York Giants vs. Washington Commanders Prediction

I’m on the Giants and the points here. Despite their shortcomings in 2024, the Giants played the Commanders tough, holding Washington to 7 field goals in a 3-point win early on and battling just as hard in the rematch. All in all, I think this is going to be another battle that could be even more competitive just because of the improvements within New York’s roster, especially at QB. Give me the Giants and the points.
