The Phoenix Coyotes and San Jose Sharks both opened the season with a victory and when they meet on Saturday night they’ll be searching for two in a row.
The Coyotes head into this season looking to crack the postseason picture once again and with divisional realignment and some teams leaving the conference that looks like more than a distinct possibility for the desert dogs. Of course, Phoenix is led on the back end by Keith Yandle, Oliver Ekman-Larsson and goaltender Mike Smith, who was brilliant in Phoenix’s season debut and will have to be all season long if the Coyotes want to replicate their success from the past couple years. They head into San Jose to take on the Sharks in a former Pacific division show down and while San Jose is as loaded as ever, the Coyotes always find a way to get up for these games and you can expect a similar effort from them here tonight.

The Sharks have a loaded roster once again led by veteran talent up front and goaltender Antii Niemi continues to be a workhorse in the Sharks’ crease where he has been a difference maker over the past couple of seasons. San Jose got off to a red hot start last year and with a convincing victory over the Vancouver Canucks in their season opener the Sharks will look to make it back to back home ice victories to start the season. San Jose is one of those tough teams to figure out as they are very streaky but I like the way they looked against the Canucks and I think they match up very well against the Coyotes and should be the beneficiaries of playing in front of the home crowd in this one. Take the Sharks at home.
